There's a B-1 for sale and something looks odd to me about this watch.

The watch comes with Chronometere certificate and case-back is also engraved with "Chronometre" designation, however - on the dial it just says "B-1" instead of "Chronometre B-1".

Is this normal? Why is "Chronometre" missing from the dial?

It's just a design feature - examples on this site - http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... al_28.html

Am I correct to assume that B-1 without "Chronometre" on the dial were made before 2002 and are not Superquartz?

Furthermore, are all B-1 with "Chronometre" on dial Superquartz?

Close.

The dial had just B-1 on the dial from 2000 to 2003 and they were all chronometre certified non SQ movements - A68362. During 2003 the transition was made to the SQ movement and the model number became A78362. All of the SQ movements have Chronometre B-1 on the dial.

Prior to 2000 the dial had 1884, the model number of A68062 and was not chronometre certified.

Here you can find everything.

It is perfectly possible to buy a B1, wit only "B1" on the dial, that IS a chronometre:
