Since the Emergency Mission is a "Super Quartz" and not Mechanical, would that mean you wouldn't need to get them serviced as often?

From what I hear, quartz watches really don't get serviced, except for cleaning (right?).

Just thought of this....hmmm

SQ movements still need servicing - especially those that show the time in an analogue manner - it's only the power source and regulation that's different.

The EM in particular will need Breitling servicing - you don't want just anybody messing with it to change a battery with the transmitter sitting there. Like the Emergency, the Mission has a free first service.

They also need batteries replaced.

How long do the batteries last for?

Also, the Mission is no longer made, right? I like the older (non-digital) ones better for some reason.

I have heard members say their batteries lasted anywhere from 2-5years. Dont forget if you are buying pre-loved to inquire how long the battery has already been in the watch. I think using the functions of the watch shortens battery life a bit. Just like using the chrono on an auto "usually" shortens the power reserve a bit.

EM battery is rated at 2 to 3 years, less with the chrono.

The EM has been discontinued for about 2 years however, Breitling recently produced a small run due to demand!

I never knew about this small run you speak of.

Yeah? This "small run" is news to me also. I always thought the EM is waaayy nicer than the standard E. Fwiw, I bought mine in Dec 2008 & am still waiting (impatiently) for it to require its first battery change (free polishing -- wohoo!! :santa: ).

I got mine serviced after 2 years, although the battery was still going strong. (First service is free).
It's coming up on it's 4th birthday and will be going off to Breitling for a short holiday and will come back like brand new.
Breitling also promise to keep spares for 20+ years after a watch has been delisted from their portfolio.

The SQ Calibre 73 is still used in the Chrono Avenger M1, which I believe is still in production. (Correct me if I'm wrong).

Great pics Verner.

I would have one like a shot if they made the transmitter on the left side!

M1 was actually discontinued in 2008 / 2009.

Thanks Roff, I wasn't completely sure if it had been or not.

The Avenger Seawolf Chrono has replaced the M1. Calibre 73 lives on and I dont see this movement being phased out for at least another 20 years.
