Has anyone actually been swimming, showered, or had continous water contact with their Navitimer?? Are they really not waterproof ? |

No watch is waterproof! There are levels of water resistence, but those can be comprimised by dynamic conditions and the state of your gaskets/seals (which changes over time). 30m is not suitable for swimming. Just occasional splashing. I don't have one, but if I did, I wouldn't go swimming with it. |

I used to go swimming all the time in my Navi before I read on here you shouldn't. Long story but I don't have the std Navitimer anymore but I get all panic if my Navi world gets splashed on when washing my hands. |

The water resistance rating on the navitimers is 3 atmospheres of static water pressure, but that's not realistic - motion of water relative to the watch will significantly reduce the equivalent depth, and swimming will obviously create that motion. Similarly, showering can create some fairly high pressures, as a rough guide, my home is supplied by well and the water pressure is set to 54psi which is 3.67 atmospheres - so running my navitimer directly under a running faucet (that isn't restricting the pressure) would exceed the water resistance rating. |

I actually was coming in here to post a very similar question. I have 2 'lings , both w/ 500m water resistance ratings - but how confident should I be going swimming with them on or whatnot? Is there a way to test them? As someone else said, it's a very expensive gamble to take. |

As someone else said, it's a very expensive gamble to take. With a WR of 500m you have absolutely no worries whatsoever! You can even scuba dive in a watch like that with no problem at all. A 300m WR watch is considered a professional divers watch. Years ago I used to swim regularly in an old 50m WR watch and that was always fine. The only ones you really need to be careful of are the 30m Navi's and that is primarily due to the design of the case and the way the bezel is a simple friction fit. |

How are you supposed to clean a Navitimer without using water ? :s I used Veraet to clean one of mine , if it got water inside , what are the signs the watch will exhibit to indicate that ? |

You can use water to clean the watch, there's a difference between using a wet cloth / soft toothbrush and running it under a gently running tap and showering with it. If the watch got water inside then generally the first clue is condensation inside the crystal. |
