| Post subject: | Do Breitling's hold their value well? |
Getting an SA very soon as a birthday treat to myself. This will be my first watch in excess of £2.5k, and just curious as to how well Breitling's hold their value. ie. say I were to sell the watch two or three years down the line (unlikely, but hypothetically speaking), how much would the watch be worth roughly? |

Not very well. It's impossible to predict the future, but a three year old Super Avenger is probably worth about $2500(£1590) right now. I'd figure it'll lose 30-40% of it's value. |

Agreed, however if you buy well 'pre-loved' they can go up in price. |

This will be the case with ANY watch you buy, not just Breitling. Unless you are getting very limited production watch, you should expect significant loss of value for re-sale purpose. Let me repeat what has been said many times - watches are not an investment, don't expect to make any profit on them. Keeping in mind what was said, I think your strategy should be focused on minimizing potential losses. I suggest you buy pre-owned or negotiate as much of discount as you can from ADs. |

Even for a new Panerai or Rolex, value will drop 2-3yrs down if resale. Best not to sell at all. Just buy what you love & to appreciate it everyday. But if you must sell, than I suggest to buy a preowned watch. That will certainly hold it's value better. |

Buy preowned if you want the value to stay around what you're going to pay. I sold my Panerai 112 that I bought preowned for exactly what I paid for it after owning it for 15 months. |

I don't know too much about the resale values but I look at it like a car, you're gonna loose money if you buy brand new. If you're patient you can find what you're looking for pre-owned and since SA's are pretty popular there are a lot of them out there. You may even be able to find one that still has some of the Breitling warranty left. |
