Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and this watch will be my first Breitling that I aquire if all goes well. I found a 2007 Superocean Steelfish X-Plus with black face in very good condition for a great price. It comes with all the boxes and papers. (Although he doesn't have the original receipt) As this is my first pre-owned watch that I'm purchasing is there anything in specific I should do or ask? I was planning on meeting the seller at a local Breitling AD to get it inspected prior to buying it. I'm just a little nervous as this is my first expensive timepiece. (just finishing law school lol). I was going to get a new one from jomas but I felt like if I could save a good amount of money the preowned would be worth it. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to posting pics.

Before buying I would contact jnelson for some AD contact info. He usually even gets close to used pricing, and even usually has a good selection of used pieces in himself. I would never just buy from someone. Maybe someone with in this forum that has been here a long time etc but no one outside of this forum. For the most part.

Have the seller send you some nice detailed pics and post them up here before you meet up with him. The steelfish has some great fakes, and an AD can easily be fooled (its happened before...). That, or you can start researching specific telltale signs like the clasp stamping or the bracelet screwhead shape so that you can spot one yourself.

With due respect to some very good personnel at ADs, most employees are sales people, not experts on Breitling replicas. And the Steelfish is considered to be one of the very best replicas made.

#1 rule: check that the s/n on the watch matches that on the warranty card and the COSC. If it does, then it's 99.9% certain it is genuine. Fake COSC are made but not warranty books.

Feel free to post pics in the replica section for appraisal.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I added pics of the watch in the replica section for everyone to checkout. I had more pics of the box and watch but it only let me upload 5 pics.
