Post subject: | Breitling Bad Service Help |
Hi, I am from the UK and I sent my Breitling off for a full maintenance service included polish. I waited just over 10 weeks for it to come back and I was over the moon with the result. The reason it took so long was because it failed quality check and had t go back so I was pleased they were being thorough, or so i thought. The first time I wore it in the shower the screen misted over inside so I phoned up and sent it back. 2 weeks later I phoned for an update and found out that it was watchmaker error during the service and a seal hadn't been fitted corectly. I did ask how it had passed the stringent quality checks they show in their video but they stated it was an error and they would resolve it. They also said they would send me a pen as compensation but would not refund the cost of the service. I had to wait 3 more weeks while a new face was sent over from Switzerland and I finally got my watch back on Saturday. Again I was really happy with it but when I went to manual wide it as it had stopped during it's time in the post the manual winder doesnt feel right. If i remember before when I unscrewed it I am sure I felt it pop out a little to wind it up. Now it doesnt seem to do that and when I try to wind it clockwise it just screws back in. I managed to fiddle about with it and get plenty of turns on it but about 12 hours later it stopped. Needless to say I am getting peed off as I have been over 15 weeks without it and now It looks like it has to go back again. Can anyone tell me if i am right and you do feel a little click when you unscrew it as if it pops out a little bit like it is spring loaded. Also who in the UK can I complain to as this is getting a joke. |

It should spring open when you unscrew it. I know it sucks, but as long as they keep escalating the gifts each time you send it in I wouldnt get too upset ![]() |

I would be worried that the watch was becoming a so called "lemon." I feel like which ever watchmaker is touching this watch shouldnt be a watchmaker. Kind of scary I think. I know you were just kidding about the gifts RJRJRJ I just fear of this happening to me someday, because with my luck a service would never go smooth. |

Taking a slightly different perspective...... I'm not sure what the problem could be. I guess that it's possible that the spring isn't working properly, but it's odd. If you pull the crown out and then push it back in can you wind the watch then or does it still just screw down? In terms of how to complain, the phone numbers are here - http://www.breitlingsource.com/contact.shtml I'm not in the UK and can't throw a name out there to ask for, but customer service is generally pretty good. |

If I pull the winder out and push back in I get the same result it just screws back up. It is going back today and I am going to call them today and see what they say. |

Sorry to hear about your bad experience Noodler. The first thing to say is that Breitling's products and customer service are widely-known as being very good. Unfortunately, that's of very little help when you're the minority suffering from a bad experience. I'm still in the middle of my own little nightmare with a Chrono Evo that they're currently refusing to replace so can sympathise and hope that you find a better resolution. I'm in the UK and the first thing I did was contact enquiries@breitling-uk.com (Breitling UK, Customer Service Department, BUK Ltd, PO Box 309, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN2 3YB). Subsequently my wife wrote to Head Office is Switzerland at customer.relation@breitling.com (Breitling SA, P.O. Box 1132, Schlachthausstrasse 2, 2540 Grenchen, Switzerland) but they didn't really budge from the BUK line. I can PM you the names of the people I dealt with but it might be better directed to their generic addresses in the first instance. My AD did say that any complaints are better coming from the customer rather than the dealer as Breitling will listen more but I don't know how true that really is. Maybe my AD is scared of losing their license? If you need anything else, just let me know. Good luck! |

Thanks for the reply. I am away at the moment but got my wife to take the watch in to the jewellers. They confirmed that it is not right and it has to be sent back for a 3rd time. I phoned Breitling in the UK and have adressed an email to the customer services manager detailing the series of events. As it stands I am without my watch for nearly 4 months and it has been sent back to Breitling today. The previous two times it has been sent back from Breitling the watch hasn't been in working order so I can but hope. Once i can understand it might slip through quality but surely on the second occasion they at least cheked you could wind it up and gave it a special check due to the first watchmaker error...... |
