Post subject:  Breitling boxes and papers - history of changes

Is there a place on the web where I can see how design of boxes and papers changed for different years?

I have a watch with older style boxes/papers and would like to be able to ID time period when it was made.

Thanks!

Not that I've come across, but if you post up some pictures I'm sure we can come up with a pretty good estimate between us.

Not quite what you are looking for, but the closest that I have ever seen - viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3879

I don't have good pics on me at the moment, but here are some descriptions:

1) Outer box: white color, carton.

2) Inner box:
- outside - blue leatherette, padded;
- inside: white veloure-like material, soft, watch sits on a plush pilow.

3) Manuals: white glossy paper, white envelope/document holder. Warranty card has "19 " printed in the year section.

The watch which came with these boxes was produced from 1993 until early 2000s and serial number is quite low, so my guess is that this box/document combo dates around 1994-1996.

Great link!

Scary stuff, I wasn't aware that fakes of the boxes are so widespread. :wowzers

I'm not sure. My exp on boxes goes back to the early 90's. That looks like a 70's box but I do not like it (gut feel), I would walk.

Between 1991 and 1994 is my guess.

Al,

I think the box itself is fine. I came across a listing with the same box - seller states that the watch was purchased in 1995.

happy_chapie estimate (1991-1994) seems to be right on the money.
