I have owned my Chrono Evolution MOP for about 3 years... About a year ago, it has started to lose around 2 minutes per day. What is the best way to get it tuned? Is this normal?

Thanks!

Not a normal loss of time per day. The best indication that your watch is in need of a service is when it begins to gain/lose time outside of COSC spec (-4/+6 seconds a day).

Sounds to me like you'll have to send it in to Breitling for a service.

Thanks... Sorry for my ignorance, but how do you contact them and send it? How much do they charge?

No need to be sorry.

Assuming you're in the US, you can send the watch directly to BUSA in CT or you can go through an AD.

Cost will depend on exactly what is wrong, but a chrono service is 450? Not 100 percent sure but I remember reading that around here.

Assuming your screen name indicates you live in the US,

Breitling USA
206 Danbury Rd Ste 1
Wilton, CT 06897-4004
Phone: (203) 762-1180

I’ve corresponded via email with - maria.dias@breitlingusa.com. She can direct you to the correct person/department.

They are closed on weekends and the entire joint’s been shut down for awhile because the company is on vacation. Got that? The entire company is on vacation! It’s a European thing.

Which miffs me a bit as they had my Skyracer for warranty work 2 months before "vacation."

"This town doesn't have a one hour cleaner so I had to buy a new suit, except the only store you could buy a new suit in has got the flu. Got that? The whole store got the flu so I had to get this in a second hand store. So it's either wear the leather jacket which I know you hate, or this. So I wore this ridiculous thing for you" ~My Cousin Vinny

A few things.......

If it's simple then a basic service may be sufficient which will only be around $250. If it suddenly started losing 2 minutes a day that's a little worrying, it's usually a dramatic event to suddenly cause that. The fact that it's been unattended for a year also worries me slightly and may increase the cost to fix.

Now in terms of the shutdown. Swiss law requires employers to provide 2 - 4 week breaks each year so please don't blame Breitling for being based in a more progressive society than most of us live in!

OK, I'll blame the Swiss! :) As I said - "it's a European thing." And I like many things European. Like... expresso, which I will need plenty off today due to some raucus neighbors last night who kept me up very late with noise. I suspect they had visiting guests on extended "vacation."

Why a closed company for several weeks ?

Because every person/department has his own task within the company.

If you can service the movements but can't polish the cases there is a problem.
Not only with service but also on production. Cases made, dials printed, but nobody to construct the watch.

So everybody gets 3 weeks of at children hollidays and starts back together again.
