I have been thinking about changing the dial on my Navitimer (black with silver sub-dials) and finally bought new OEM silver dial. Can the exchange of the dials be performed by my local watchmaker? Are there any caveats into this procedure? I am a bit concerned, because I heard that Breitling hands are not re-usable and Breitling service team installs new hands every time they perform service. Is this true? Also, what would be reasonable cost for exchanging the dials? Thanks! |

This has been mentioned several times here but essentially the cost of getting a legitimate (i.e. byBreitling) dial change is very high. If you opt to go to a non-Breitling certified watchmaker, you will be forced to use non-Breitling parts and re-use the hands which are intended to be single-use. Also, if you ever had to send the watch back to Breitling for service they would change the dial, hands, etc back to the original configuration at cost to you before touching the movement. |

There is an Avenger Skyland at local AD that is a LE NHLPA (National Hockey League Player's Association) version. There is a badge on the dial. I asked them (LaSwiss) if they could change it and they came back with a cost of about $1200. Essentially $700 for the dial and $500 for tune up package I had to buy to get it installed. |

Thank you! Why are Breitling hands single-use? What is so special about them? It looks like it's not worth the trouble, it's easier to just get different watch with desired dial and sell the one I don't like. |

I got my chrono avenger dial changed from grey to black. It was done by BUSA, and total was about $800 which included a full service. I would not recommend a local watchmaker to do it, unless they used to work at BUSA or BUK. JMHO. -Don |

avers wrote: Why are Breitling hands single-use? What is so special about them? They are press fit and stretch slightly to grip the arbor / cannon pinion. Once removed they won't fit so well when reattached as they have already stretched and are more likely to fall off. |
