Heres a problem on my Navitimer Montbrillant Datora.

Basically, heres my problem. In Dec. '09 I was diagnosed of Leukemia and I needed medically in a coma in 2 months to heal while getting Chemotherapy during that time, and I was in the hospital half the year so far. I finally went home a couple months. The first time I wear my watch the first time this year and now now its broken. I winding and adjusted it (40x wind) and did it all properly. After wearing it and it dies after on for 12hr. I can tell exactly how it died, so it definitely didnt stop close to 48hrs like normally. It never had these problems before I was sick. Ive been careful with it since I bought it. So, since my warranty expired in April 23th '10.

I planned on taking by my AD before I got sick last year, and I never was able since I was really sick, and then I was in the hospital for 6 months. My AD said it might help if I bring a note from my Dr. about my issue, and they'll talk to Breitling about it. So I'm bringing my watch by my AD soon with my note, and my yellow warranty slip to show them. I really don't want to pay to fix it now because now I am dealing with medical bills for my health and I'll be having chemo for 3 years, and I'm 26th.

I've posted on the site before right when I got my Breitling a couple years. Heres my last thread about my first issue when I noticed my date hand wasnt straight, and also, my second hand chrono isnt straight, and the worst thing is that the watch doesnt keep the time after 12hrs. Terrible.

Does anyone remember how much it costed to fix the watch? My AD said i'll need a estimate having it fixed after Breitling talks to them about my warranty issue. Worst case, I'll have to pay it, but I hope not.

Thanks!!

First and foremost, congratulations on getting out of the hospital and I wish you all the luck in the world in the coming years. My father battled multiple myeloma and I'm sure that with the support of your loved ones you can persevere. Keep up the good fight!

As for the real reason your posting... it sounds to me like the watch is in need of a service. If I were you, I'd certainly go ahead and tell your story to your AD or maybe even speak to Breitling directly. Although they are well within their rights to refuse to honor your warranty, I'd hope they would take your circumstances into account.

Please keep us posted on you and your watch!

It's difficult to know exactly what is causing the problem, but it does sound like a basic service should diagnose and fix it - around $250. That said, given the circumstances it is certainly worth asking Breitling for some consideration, it certainly can't help.

Congratulations on the progress that you have made so far, and good luck in the future.

If your AD doesnt seem like theyre fighting for you just get in touch with Breitling directly. Like Roff said, they can certainly refuse, but it sounds like you have a pretty good excuse and I would hope that they would take that into consideration and offer you a nice discount at the very least.

My Skyracer had been returned twice under warranty within my first few months of ownership for the date not sitting correctly in the date window. It was not fixed after two visits, but I didn't have the heart to send it back right away. Weeks turned to months and the next thing I know I'm about 6 weeks out of warranty. I emailed my contact at BUSA explaining that I inadvertently missed the warranty cut-off, and they agreed to repair it free of charge. Of course, my circumstance may be a little different because I had two warranty visits, and the same problem recurred.

I agree that the best thing to do would be to contact Breitling directly and to tell them your story. I had the same problem with my Datora's date hand, and it came back from BUSA aligned perfectly. Good luck!

Thank you. I would really call them too, but in March this year, I had some temporary hearing loss from my cancer. I havent heard anything in 4 months. This is making it hard for me now. :(

The general email address for BUSA is sales@breitlingusa.com. Provided you are in the US, I would send them an email. I'm sure they can forward it to the warranty department.

If you pm me with all info I would be glad to act as you and give them a call for you if needed. I know this would mean giving a complete stranger some personal info like possibly address etc so if your not comfortable with it no problem at all I just wanted to throw out the offer.

Friends,

I've heard from my email to Breitling USA and they were very helpful with everything. My Datora has arrived there and it should be checked soon, and they offered fixing my watch even still a couple months past my warranty expired. I believe they are polishing my watch during when repaired. I'm very excited now. :lingsrock:

I'll update my issue once it's done and shipped back to me.

Thanks for all your posts in my thread. :D
