been a breitling guy for years. Had 4 most recently a crosswind special.

I am looking at buying a Super Avenger from a friend. I know the AD it came from, any it comes with the original box and papers. It is a white face with a full bracelet and a factory Breitling diamond bezel. Manufacture date of mid 2004 and a sold date of Nov 04. Watch is a 9 out if 10 with one tiny scratch the only thing keeping it from being a full 10. Anyway u can get if for $6000. Is this a good deal? What's the goin rate in these?

Love the site. Thanks, Fear

As far as I was aware there isn't a factory diamond bezel made for the SA, so I'm guessing it might be a factory bezel with aftermarket diamonds added. (I may be wrong, but all the iced up SA's I have seen have always been non-factory mods).

Without pics it's a little hard to say if it's a good price or not. You can buy a brand new standard SA online for $3300ish, so a lot would depend on the quality of the diamonds (colour and clarity, primarily), the number of carats and the quality of the setting.

i actually do believe that the SA can be bought with a factory diamond bezel. if my memory serves me right the bezel is vs1 clarity and 1.23 or so total weight in karats. i believe the diamond bezel factory SA is 5000 or more expensive than the reg. bezel. i have vs1 stones in my watch and honestly its pointless to get anything better clarity such as vvs becuase the stones are set into the bezel and do not allow for much light to be captrued within the stone and reflected. on engagement rings the stone is open all around which allows for light to penetrate from every direction.

its deffinately a factory bezel. And its almost a 8000 option. A SA on a bracelet retails for 12000 with diamonds. 4000 without. And I haven't seen a aftermarket bezel that looks as good

OK guys, I stand corrected on the "factory diamond bezel" front.

If it is a factory bezel, then the quality of the diamonds will not be in doubt. I know a bit about diamonds and the ones Breitling use are very good clarity (nothing below vs2) and colour is generally no worse than around G. Sure, the carat value tends to be more modest than some of the aftermarket ones, but IMHO they look all the better for that.

So if it is a factory diamond bezel, then I'd say that $6000 is a pretty good price - well, it certainly would be on this side of the Atlantic!!!!

It breaks down to about half of retail, if i remember correctly, retail is 12000 for a new supervavenger with diamond dial. its in new condition and the only think i miss outon is the warranty, but i havent had a lick of issue with a breitling for 10 years. i think i am gonna go for it.
