Just wondering that Canadian members experiences are buying a used UK watch and bringning it into Canada. What are the expected fees, bumps and issues someone can expect to encounter? |

You'll get hit for the GST / PST combo or HST depending on where you live, plus 5% import duty. There'll also be a handling fee from the courier company and GST or HST on that - reckon about 20% all in. I've never had any issues, just expect some delays at Customs, although the UK isn't one of the originalting countries that causes concern. |

PST/GST/HST would only apply for a new watch purchase though right? |

DontTellMyWife wrote: Including a private sale? Technically yes, but it depends if the tax man finds out. On importation to Canada the authorities will obviously know because of Customs clearance. |

Are you hand carrying the item back with you or having it sent to you in the post? Is it a pre owned watch? |
