Any idea is highly welcome on the chances of the 2010 Superocean bezel should fit the Chron SuperOcean or not?
AD-s might try the issue - a bezel without the pullover-killing rider tabs would be great. BTW this would show the watch optically a bit larger and thinner compared to the steel bezel...

Best, Robert

Made one more remark on the advantage of the possible rubber bezel on the CSO. Any comment is welcome - I know this is a matter of personal taste but optically it would really make the CSO look a bit less tall and a bit "wider" so more proportional.

Personally I'd be more interested if the CSO bezel fitted on the new SO! :)

But either way unless you can find a way of physically trying it I can't think of another way of proving whether it would fit or not. If it DID fit it'd be an enormous fluke because it's hard enough to find bracelets that are interchangeable, let alone more integral parts like the bezel.

I never liked rubber bezel on Breitling.

I feel rubber bezels should not be used on a watch which costs thousands, but be reserved to cheaper watches.

The cases may be the same dimension, but shape and every other dimension is different. I would be shocked if it worked.

I do not like too much the rubbered bezel either, but want to get rid of the "sweater-killer" rider tabs and make the watch optically flatter and "larger". The idea came from the fact that the SO 2010 and the previous model have the same dimensions according to factory data and there is a huge chance that the bezel of the previous SO and the CSO might be interchangeable.

If this rubbered bezel won't work on the CSO I have other ideas but some might think it "castrates" the watch - so no word on this yet until it is made:)

So if anyone can try the interchangeability of the bezels I'd be more than happy to know about the result!

Best, Robert

I would look into Navitimer series, their watches don't have rider tabs.

No, thanks. Though I like a lot the look of the Navi series it is definitely not for me: as a daily wearer I'm not satisfied with the 30 m wr and I cannot see and cannot make use of the logarithmic scales. I use the Navi series only for elegant watch for evening occasions to be worn with a suit and that is definitely the Grand Premier with the beautiful off-white dial - the nicest elegant Breitling chronograph of the modern times IMHO. (My blue dial Aviastar is a bit more sporty but more usable because of the lunette.) Otherwise I need at least 100 m wr, diver's bezel, chronograph and date, possibly day-date, good lume. Most go with the CSO.

Best, Robert

The cases may be the same dimensions, but I have a feeling that they are not compatible. The bezel screws on my new SO are very, very tiny, and seem like they would be connected to the internals differently. Of course, this may just be a case of a different design that works exactly the same. I would remove my bezel to take a look inside but I dont have a small enough screwdriver. A 1.4 was far too big when I tried, so im thinking 1.0-1.2 is the right size.

Thx for your reply! It's a pity you live in LA and me in Budapest, we could do the try. Otherwise I do not think it is worth looking inside the bezel 'coz tiny differences can blast the hopes. I don't think that the shape of the screw-head is an important factor: now I'm trying different screws for my CSO bezel to make the whole thing a bit less "Harley-looking" and realized that the only important thing is the length of the screw. Haven't found the best solution yet but I'll post scans if I could manage.

If you find someone with a CSO in LA it is worth trying the shift - better at a watchmaker... if you are successful, please post some scans! (Side sight too.)

Have a nice week-end! Robert

The screw head may not be important (as long as it's not too small), but it's not just the length. The thread will also make a big difference - if the thread is wrong then best case the screw won't grip properly, worst case you'll damage the threads in the bezel / case.

Thx Roff, completely agree, but I've ordered quite a few kind of screws to see which fits best and the only positive finding was that every screw of the same thickness had the very same thread. So own experience is that no damage hazard if you order the parts from Breitling.

Best, Robert

PS: Question remains open if the two bezels are technically interchangeable... :)
