Hi Guys,

Just about to purchase an Emergency on 121.5, the previous owner is a great guy and communication has been great.

Do I need to re-register the watch with my name? As previous owner says not necessary and other people and a work colleague have told me it is?

So just want to make sure I am correct!

Emergency has to be registered - you should be able to do it through an AD, and then you will have to sign the transmitter paperwork explaining what will happen if you pull the antenna outside of an emergency situation.

Ah great thanks.

So is bringing it to an AD the only way to get it registered or can I call or email Breitling the serial number or something?

Because, I dont think an AD will want the hassle of the paperwork for a watch you did not buy from them?

Depending on where you are, emailing the main 'hub' is fine. i.e. BUSA or BUK.

Get an email from your seller/registered owner to the relevant body for change of ownership and they'll send you the paperwork.

I bought mine, the seller informed BUK via email who sent me the 'changeover responsibility paperwork' without question, which you fill in and send back.



So to answer your question (at least in UK) you don't need to involve local dealers (ADs), but need to inform the main body.

Just got my letter back today from BUK that I own the watch.... :-)

Oh and I bought an Emergency pre owned from a US AD and didnt have to register it and when I emailed BUSA they said I could regiester it if I wanted to but it would cost me fifty bucks so I didnt bother. :mrgreen:

That's bizarre.

My understanding was that the watch (more accurately the transmitter) had to be registered in case of activation.

Just had a look at the T&Cs you have to sign when purchasing and it states that you are obliged 'to inform Breitling SA of any change of ownership'...

Also, part of the information asked for on the form is a zip code, so it must apply in USA?
