Hey one and all,

I have a hankering for a Breitling once again (still miss my seawolf & BB) and I have been doing some research on the B01 after reading a review/comparison in one of the watch magazines. Movement and case looks amazing (love the roman numerals) and I know prices are good for a BNIB as well as used model. I am not 100% sure about the bezel numbers but it is not a deal breaker...

So B01 owners what are your thoughts and opinions? Can I request some wrist shots as well?

Thanks again guys it is good to be back,
Ren

There's been a LOT said about the B01 on here (from both the fans and from the non-fans), so there's far too much to summarise in one post really.

Your best bet would be to use the search function on here and then plough your way through the millions of opinions that have been voiced!

Well we have a few owners on here now, so hopefully some will chime in soon. (Just don't expect a totally impartial review! :poke:   )

The B01 topic has been beat to death here on the forum, so just searching will be your best bet to discover the differing opinions on the watch. That being said, I'm obviously a fan, as I own the watch. In regards to styling, I personally don't think it strays too far from traditional Breitlings, but others will certainly argue this. The bezel is the most polarizing part of the watch, but I think most will agree it looks completely different in person. The "Buck Rogers" font, as some have referred to it, is much more subdued in real life. Honestly, I wasn't crazy about the bezel at first, but it's grown on me immensely.

The movement is by no means revolutionary, but it's a step in the right direction for Breitling. In incorporates some really great features (70-hour power reserve, ability to set date/time at will, etc.), but it isn't anything the watch world hasn't seen before. Regardless, I'm proud to have Breitling's first in-house movement on my wrist. Overall, I'm pleased with the watch, but I've had some issues that have forced me to send it back to Breitling twice. The short of it is my chronograph wheels were out of round and caused the sweeping chronograph hand to "flutter" while it was running. The issue still isn't entirely resolved and it may need to go back a third time. Fortunately, I seem to be the only one on here experiencing any kind of issues. My watch was one of the first for sale in the US, so it could potentially be an issue with some of the first production run pieces. This is pure speculation, though. Breitling assured me this is the first issue of its kind they've seen with the B01 movement.

As you wanted wrist pics, I found this thread on WUS that has several: http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=273834

Here are my own pictures:

I really want to like the B01, but that square in the middle kills it for me, right now.

Much has been said about the B01 and I'm sure you will find a lot of informative posts if you search the forum.

My reasons for getting a B01, apart from the things one usually looks for in a Breitling, mainly have to do with the movemet. Since it is Breitling's first in-house, it makes the B01 a landmark model and thus a nice one to own.

The main controversy about the B01 is the styling. I personally think it looks great. The attention to detail is second to none and the combination of features, looks and ergonomics is top notch.

After having used it a while I have come to really appreciate the ability to set the date regardless of what time it is, as opposed to the ETA-based movements that require the date to be set while the movement is outside a certain time range.
I've also become fond of the big lume index marker on the bezel.

But the main thing that makes the B01 my favorite Breitling so far is just the general everyday experience of wearing it. A hefty, comfortable, high performance machine ticking effortlessly away on my wrist... Sweeeet 8)

I've spent a couple of minutes contemplating an appropriate response to your post. I think I'll go with:

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I might have more Breitlings
What's it to you?

The square really looks much less "intruding" in real, if you know what I mean, just look it up next time you pay a visit to your AD. :)

You beat me to it, Tomcat. I was going to say the same thing.
