Post subject: | Damaged Goods at AD |
I was at my AD the other day checking out a Chronomat and noticed a couple of slight scratches on the side of the case. I'm really keen on that version, but uneasy about taking a piece which is not mint. What is the solution - should the AD get a new piece in, or just offer a discount? Or is this common?? |

There should be no scratches in a new Breitling at an AD, period. Does this watch still have the protective sticker on the case back? If they just allowed someone to mishandle it and it is just a slightly scatched brand new watch... ask for a 30% discount and buy some cape cod cloths and make it new again in 20 minutes. Couldnt hurt to ask. I would be mad to pay new price from an AD to get a scratched Ling. Scott |

Scott I agree with BroncoSport, If the discount is big enough I would take it and run especially if I knew there's a good chance I can remove them afterward. Especially knowing that I usually end up scratching my watches any ways. |

Yeah to be honest I think I will go for a discount and take it if its good enough $ - realistically I am probably going to scratch it in the first 5 mins of wearing anyway... Thanks for the guidance folks, good to know where to aim. |

I second going for a discount. But I'm mostly typing this to tell Seabass that your avatar makes me laugh. Don't know why. It's just funny. |

should be no straches unless it was used as a store model or something. I think the AD will probably end up just ordering you a new one. You could see if hell discount the "store model/strached one" to you but chances are they will probably buff it out and sell to the next customer? either way I would get a brand new one |

Whilst its obvious to expect a totally mint watch, you could consider asking them to polish it before purchase....if its an AD they should be able to do this...if its still not acceptable after they do this, or if it is and they dont offer discount, get them to order a new one in. BTW, are you a standard sea bass, or a mutated one with lasers ? |

I didn't ask for the nickname, but you have to run with these things. ewen - no mutations thankfully, but I'm working on getting the lasers hooked up (excellent movie reference, btw). |

Depending on how bad the scratches were, I'd ask for a huge discount and fix it myself! ~Brian |
