Post subject: | Choice of BB |
Dear, After having a Navitimer last year, I'd like a more sport watch now such as the BB I really like. But I'm not sure which one to choose (polished ? bracelet type ? blackeye ? blacksteel ?). I really like the blacksteel but I wonder if it's a reasonable choice to wear it while practising sport, I'm afraid to alter the black treatment. Also I wonder if this choice is not driven by any current trend and if I still will be fond of after many years. So if you have any pics and thoughts to help me making my mind, it would be great. Best regards Nico |

I was originally an all polished guy having first bought a polished BB. Then later got the brushed with blackeyeblue. I became a brushed guy. Sadly there is just something about the Chronomat style case with a pilot bracelet that makes them not sit well on my wrist - no matter what changes I make to the bracelet. This problem seems unique to the vagaries of my wrist. The shape of the distal ulna or lunate bone or whatever it is. Not wanting to take that special bracelet off a BB, I sold both. You really must see both in person, especially the blackeyeblue - it needs to be seen to be appreciaited. Really broke me to sell mine, but it was a waste just taking up winder space. That said, there are those here who will get down right apoplectic about what constitutes a proper BB and what doesn't. My advice to you is go with your heart and pay them no mind. Keep us updated and post some pics. |

Like anything it's a completely personal choice and only you can really make up your mind which to go for. However, for me, the Blackbird should ALWAYS have the black dial and the brushed case, and should always be on the bracelet. That way it's always in keeping with the stealth look of the SR71 Blackbird that inspired it's name in the first place. The other variants (the polished version, the blackeye-blue version) all look perfectly nice pieces, but they just ain't proper Blackbirds! ![]() |

Personal preference is always a winner. I am partial to both of mine. Although the "Black" Blackbird has been getting more wrist time as of late. ![]() Al, I'm still looking for a UTC like yours, I love the look and being able to set Zulu on the UTC. GW |
