Post subject: | help me decide |
i am going to buy another breitling to replace my lost crosswind special with a diamond bezel. I am looking at a super avenger with a diamond bezel. my friend is a fellow breitlign nut, bought this SA aprox 2 years ago from a local AD. i know the dealer well and obviously my friend, i have zero doubt of the authenticity. My crosswind special had a diamond bezel, not the highest quality diamonds i have ever seen either. the SA has the BEAUTIFUL breitling factory diamond bezel, much better quality and life in the diamonds. but with the aftermarket diamonds available for it, its a serious $$$$ difference. the watch with the factory bezel is 12k, without it its 4k. 8 k for a bezel seems crazy to me! I know i can get it from the same sealer for under 10k and probably just above 3k for the one with no bezel and add an aftermarket bezel, or i can but my friends barely used with the diamond bezel for 7k. not sure what to do here. I have head that breitling wont service or repair any watch with the aftermarket bezels on them. is this true? what will a good diamond bezel cost me if i decide to add it? i could always change it out if it had to go back to breitling, but i dont think it matters because the warranty is only 2 years if iremember. not sure what do do here... is 7k a good deal for this SA? I ought my crosswin special 4 years ago and i havent been paying attention tothe prices much. thankS in advance, FEAR |

I would definitely go with the factory version diamond bezel. To me the factory always looks like it belongs on the watch and that can not said about aftermarket bezels. I don’t know if it is true about Breitling not servicing them but I would not take that chance even if it meant purchasing the bezel at a later time to save up. That’s just my opinion. |

Also , have you taken a look at some of the online dealers like authenticwatches.com? I do not have any experience with them but some of the other members rally like them. They have a diamond bezel for under 3K |

DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THE WARRANTY ISSUE? No factory warranty if you buy online, just the online seller's warranty. |

Factory diamond bezels have much more sparkle and presence to them than most aftermarket bezels. Having said that, you can get REALLY nice diamonds put into a aftermarket bezel for about half or less of what a diamond bezel from Breitling costs. To me, to spend $3K or more on a bezel just wouldn't be worth it.. I'd rather get another Ling. But for some people, the diamond bezel has to be authentic, or its not the same... just like some people don't want Aftermarket straps, they have to have the OEM ones because of one reason or another. Its really up to you and what you can live with. |
