I am currently deployed to Iraq and have found a local merchant who can get his hands on several of the old Iraqi Air Force Breitlings. How would I go about determining and proving the authenticity of these pieces prior to purchase? I have seen several pictures online, which display the Air Force wings on the watch and the Arabic writing on the back. Is there any “test” I could do or things to look for to ensure I do not get ripped off? Thanks for the help!

Your best bet would be to get a couple of pictures of them (if you can) and post them up on here. We have people on here who will soon let you if they're ok.

PS - I've delete your duplicate post to make sure that all answers come on one thread.

Hey, where are you at? I'm based out of VBC, but I travel a lot, and I want an Iraqi Breitling too. :lingsrock: Did the dude say how much he wanted for one? Let me know what you find out. Thanks.

Justin

Gentlemen,

My contact was able to get his hands on this Iraqi AF Breitling. The numerals on the back are 22271 above the eagle and 80971 below. I take it that 80971 is the Model #, because I have seen that number on a picture of an Iraqi AF Breitling before. The back casing on the watch is a polished stainless, and the rest of the watch is a bushed stainless/titanium look.
Does the watch appear to be authentic? He is asking $3,000 USD, does this seem high? Thanks for you time.

-Blake

I sold this one for $1750 a few weeks ago completely restored by Breitling and with all boxes and paperwork.

Watch looks Ok, but as Paul suggests the price is way too high. In that condition it's a $1,500 watch on a very good day.

I never understood why anyone would want a watch from the Iraqi Airforce?

perhaps as a souvenir from their service since 2003 (personally I try to get a military issued watch from every country assignment) or, the pic you show maybe self-explanatory as to why someone(collectors) may want a watch from the pre-2003 Iraqi AF...
