I just ordered my first "ling, and the wait will be about a week. So in the process....I am still looking for another addition. Came across a second hand cosmo and had some questions. What is the second hand value of a watch from this line. The ref has it being made prior to 01. also...Any experiences with a 24 hour watch? is it completely foreign to a normal 12 hour movement. Does it take some getting used to? |

The second hand value of the Cosmonaute is the same as most other Breitlings - i.e. you wipe at least 40% of the RRP as soon as you buy it. The best way to see if a price is reasonable is to check completed listings on eBay. The 24 hour dial is quite a different beast compared to the 12 hour dial. In other words, while the minute hand still moves around the dial once ever hour, the hour hand only moves round the dial once ever 24 hours instead of the more usual once every 12 hours. Basically it means that if 12 midnight is shown with both hands at the "12" position, 12 noon will be shown with the minute hand at "12", but the hour hand at the traditional "6" position. Some seem to take to it fine, while others seem to struggle with it even after owning a 24 hour dial watch for some time. |

I figure it would take some getting used to. I don't know if I would be up to it. Great looking watch though. I would bet a fella wearing that would turn some heads walking down the street |

I have a few 24 hour dials watches (old Russian hand-winds) and I can say that you do get used to it. I do find myself in the evenings reading the time and "subtracting" 12 hours to get the time in non-military format.  I will say that it's a unique feature and one that I get a lot of comments about. |

Actually, you can get the "24" to be either at the normal "12" position OR at the normal "6" position. See below.

I only wear my Cosmo when I'm flying. I set it to UTC for filing and tracking flight plans with ATC. The rest of the time I wear a standard 12 hour dial WW or have a pocket watch. Maybe it's because I'm talking to ATC in 24 hour time, but I have no problem crossing back and forth between the two different dials. As far as where the 24 hour dial chapter is located, I don't know of any Cosmo that has it at the "normal" 6 o'clock position. To the best of my knowledge, it is always at the top, or 12 o'clock postion. The Chrono-matic is a different watch entirely. That one would confuse me.

You are correct, all Cossies have the 24 at 12 o'clock. |

I wasn't saying you can get a Cosmonaute with different 24-dial setups, just that there are different setups (on a general note).
