Just got a Breitling 81610 with the subs at 6-9-12. There is another number on the caseback, would that be a serial number in order to ascertain what year the watch was made? This is my first Breitling, kind of a grail for a long time.

Welcome to BreitlingSource and congratulations on the acquisition.

The other number is a serial number, but after 1978 you can't use the serial number to date the watch. Modern Breitlings have a date code between the 6 o'clock lugs, but there is no way to date your watch accurately. It was produced between 1987 and about 1990.

Thanks for the reply (the only reply as it turns out). Even if I can't pin down the year it was made I still love the watch. Up to now I've only seen it in pictures but for real it's really awesome. Now I got to go find me another B so the Nav won't be lonely.
