Hi all - first post so sorry if this is not in the correct forum. I have pretty much decided upon buying a Breitling Airwolf Raven with the Co-Pilot bracelet and had a couple of questions that I hope the forum could answer: 1. Although advertised as ‘instruments for professionals,’ are the watches (specifically the Airwolf) designed to withstand Gs of +10, -7, and cockpit pressure altitudes up to 20,000 MSL? 2. Is the Airwolf Raven with the Co-Pilot a worthwhile purchase or is it overkill? After reading some reviews, it seems that the Airwolf already has almost all of the functions that the Co-Pilot provides. 3. Is Breitling discontinuing the Airwolf family? If so, should I wait for the next evolution? 4. Anyone have any personal experience with the Airwolf Raven Co-Pilot? I am just getting started with expensive watches so please forgive any ignorance in my questions – I just want to do my research prior to paying $5,000 for a watch! Thanks for the help – BlueZoo09 |

1) I don't have actual data on how much they can endure, but especially Breitling quartz watches can surely withstand a lot more G's than what the human body can. I don't see a reason why they couldn't stand pressure either. AFAIK a lot of pilots use Breitlings, and quite a few fighter pilots use B-1 and Airwolf (see the attached shot). 2) Quite frankly, if I wanted to buy an Airwolf, I'd get it with the Co-Pilot module. I wouldn't care if the features would be redundant, that combo simply looks fantastic in the metal. See the attached shot -- although it's the regular Airwolf, not the Raven version. 3) The regular Airwolf is already discontinued. I'm not sure what Breitling would do next year, but if you like the Airwolf or the Airwolf Raven, you should get it this year. IMHO Breitling is doing an experiment on its lineup, and based on how sales go about the new 2010 models (SuperOcean II, Chronospace, Galactic), it will continue revamping its lineup next year. Such revamping may just involve discontinuing the rest of the Professional series models, and replacing them with e.g. a Chronospace Lite or something like that. Which quite frankly I'd love to see happening, since the new Chronospace is one of my favorite watches after trying it on -- it's just way too large for my wrist. 4) There's at least one regular Airwolf + Co-Pilot owner on this forum, and also there's an Airwolf Raven owner here as well. I hope they'll chime in. I've never owned any of them, but I do have the predecessor to the Airwolf, the B-1. Based on my experiences on the B-1 (which is an exceedingly good watch), I can highly recommend the Airwolf to you. |

Thanks for the help – BlueZoo09 FYI, Breitling is discontinuing the Airwolf, but will continue to sell the Airwolf Raven. The Airwolf DOES have 2nd world time, GMT, so I guess the co-pilot is slightly redundant, but it certainly adds to the looks of the watch. Also, you could have a 2nd world time on the co-pilot, while displaying, say, date or chrono on the digital display on the watch face, so it would give you more options! Don't have the Co-Pilot, but I've had an Airwolf Raven for about a month, and really love it! If you like the watch, go for it! Don't let Breitlings lineup change affect your decision (unless, for example, they're discontinuing a model you really want, then, I'd speed up my purchase! Personally, I prefer the Airwolf to it's replacement, the Chronospace. |
