Post subject:  Fake EVO?

A friend of mine purchased a new chronomat from an AD, However there are a few things about the watch that don't look right, compaired tom my Chronomat evo has anything at all changed from the evo to the current chronomat? or has the piolit bracelet changed at all? it looks to be that the clasp is wider and the links are smoother and looser than mine and some of the links actually bind a little. maybe it is me but something dosent look right :?:

Take it to the nearest AD.

You are not going to believe this but my friend went back to Tourneau in NYC and confirmed the watch is in fact a fake! they gave him his money back. the S/N on the store invoice was the same one on the fake watch.
can you believe that? :o

Unfortunately, I can totally believe the EVO was a fake. :? There's some really, really good fakes out there, as shown by admin's review. Just goes to show the only way to be absolutely sure you're buying a real one is to go through an AD.

His friend did go through an AD. I'm just curious if Tourneau was selling this watch as a new chronomat evo or a used.

That sounds like a very fishy AD. Please, take your story to Breitling USA and they'll hopefully remove the status of that particular AD. "Trusted" dealers that make that kind of business is really making me sad.

I guess you guys have never heard of the Tourneau time machine. they are one of the largest sellers of fine watches in the country they have many locations. that is why it really shocked me that my friends watch that was by the way sold as new was fake!

Still, or maybe just because that, I think it has to be reported to Breitling USA.

I would recommend reporting it to Breitling USA. I'd also try to contact the store manager and anybody above them. You can find plenty of other ADs out there to deal with so you're not stuck with just buying from them.

This is a really bad thing.. Either someone working at Tourneau swapped it, or someone returned a fake one. Are you saying that the fake Evo had matching chronograph certificate and everything? Maybe they swapped the back...

For some reason I missed the fact this was Toureano your friend was dealing with (I blame the dyslexia) but I'm still not totally surpized (if it was bought used). There was another thread on this board that had an AD (Morgon's in Torrance, CA) that confirmed the EVO was real when in fact it was a fake. (See http://breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/viewt ... ot&start=0)

While I realize there's a difference between confirming a fake as real and selling a fake as real, I guess I'm just getting jaded to the point where I feel no one is safe.

Now, if the watch was bought new that's another story I would find disturbing. At least you know the AD will refund your money, and I imagine it would only be a matter of time (like when you get it serviced or something breaks down) before it's revealed to be a fake.
