Post subject:  Breitling Authentication Problem

I have bought a 1980's Breitling Shadow Flyback Limited Series Chronomat (B35313) from a highly regarded collector in Ireland, UK, (photos attached) but as it was never sold in the UK my local dealer (Goldsmiths , Birmingham) is unable to authenticate the watch or give a valuation for insurance purposes. The problem is that I have no authentication paperwork as the collector bought the watch at auction many years ago, the caseback is sapphire glass and the dealer has never seen another like it...however as no 484 of 500 this is hardly surprising. The bezel is also bi-directional which is unusual for a Chronomat. The dealer said that at 10:1 magnification it all appears genuine but as he is unable to check the case and serial numbers he cannot povide any guarantee that it is authentic. (Note that the serial number 64364 has not come out in the photo of the caseback, in between the model number and 100M).
Does anyone out there have any information on this model? I have searched on google but cannot find anything.
Alternatively, is there a contact at Breitling SA to whom I could send the photos/numbers in order to find out the watches history? Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

Interesting. I've never seen a Breitling with a display caseback, but then again, I really don't know "vintage" models.

It's real.

It was a limited edition for the Japanese market from (I think) 1999. Certainly one of the early COSC pieces.

Thanks guys; I knew I could rely upon you.
I have watched this forum for almost 9 months now, trying to decide upon which Breitling I most coveted, then purely by chance I was introduced to the collector I mentioned in Ireland. I bought the watch on trust and blind faith but I was somewhat suspicious of the display caseback as I could not find any information on the internet.
I read your posts with the widest grin on my face that you can imagine...I cannot thank you enough :D
Zirotti - glad you like my Ling
Roffensian - you are the greatest. Where do you get your information from??
Japanese market....That was a surprise. How it got to Ireland is anyones guess.
1999 onwards....I thought it was older than that so thanks for the info.
bnewbie - Thanks for concurring Roff's verdict; I now feel more confident about sending it off to Breitling SA for their Authentication Service.
Sharkmouth.... You're a star. Hopefully if I contact the London office on Tuesday they will be able to give me more information, like checking the model and serial numbers, and where and when it was first sold.
Thanks again,
Digger

One minor issue that is still bugging me.... Is the bezel correct or broken or something? It turns both clockwise and anti-clockwise unlike most Breitlings which seem to turn clockwise only. There are 120 'clicks' if this helps.
Any confirmation would be fantastic.
Thanks guys,
Digger.
