I have a Professional II polished bracelet on my Colt Auto II which is polished also. Now after a month I really dislike how easy it scratchs. Do you think a brushed finish bracelet would look ok with a polished case. Also what other Breitling watches come with a brushed finish. I have really taken a liking to the Omega Seamaster. Thanks JWL |

Thanks JWL The Seawolves have brushed bracelets. I think that the brushed bracelet would look fine on your watch as long as it has some brushed surfaces. Isn't the bezel brushed? Peace Mike |

I think it would look funny with the contrasting polished lug-tops with the brushed bracelet. If you want a brushed finish, I suggest taking it to a competent repair place and paying the $150 or so to have them brush the watch to the specs of something like the steelfish. |

In the aeromarine line I belive the following are brushed with brushed bracelets: - Avenger Seawolf chrono -Avenger Seawolf - Superocean Steelfish -Colt Quartz Blackbird in Windrider line. |

I think it would look a bit weird, especially in the beginning. Then if you like it, only you can tell. It'll sure be unique though! |

I wouldn't brush the whole bracelet, since it would look a bit weird on a polished case, no matter if the bezel is brushed or not. Also, properly converting the clasp from polished to brushed would be quite challenging. Leaving a polished clasp on a brushed bracelet would be even more weird. What I would do (either one of the choices): 1) Brush the center links, just like on the B-1's Fighter bracelet. It tones the shininess down a bit, and you don't have to worry about brushing the clasp. 2) Put the watch on an Ocean Racer rubber strap. If you're a bracelet guy like me, then this may sound a bit weird or even tough to imagine, and quite frankly that's how I always felt about rubber straps. But then at my AD I had a chance to handle both a SuperOcean and a Blackbird on rubber, and I've started to like the concept. Especially if the rubber strap has a wonderful clasp with manual micro-adjustment feature (Ocean Racer). 3) Put the watch on a leather strap. 4) Flip the Colt II Auto for a Steelfish or a Blackbird (if you don't mind that they're quite a bit bigger and heavier than the Colts), or for a Colt II Quartz (if you don't mind the quartz movement). 5) Try to live with the scratches. I'm also quite bothered by scratches at any place on a watch, but I somehow know it's not good. It prevents you from fully enjoying a perfectly beautiful watch. That's why my next watch will probably have a plastic crystal that will scratch (e.g. Omega Speedmaster "Moon Watch"). If I can live with the scratches on the watch crystal, I think I'll learn to live with the scratches on the bracelet or even the watch case. |
