So I got my new-to-me Steelfish yesterday but the links in the bracelet were being difficult so I took it to my local AD and he was kind enough to help me size it. We're chatting - he asks how much I paid, and he checks to see if he could have beaten the price. No, but he would have come close. Seems that they've decided to drop Breitling, since most of their stores don't do enough volume in it to justify the inventory that Breitling requires them to have. So discounts are probably above average as they liquidate their inventory.

The jewelry store is "Fink's Jewelers" (yeah, what a name, huh?) and they have stores throughout NC and I think maybe a few elsewhere. Feel free to PM me with specific questions. I'm sure the discounts differ depending on the store, the manager, the salesperson, etc.

Yep, this is true. I was in Finks (Dulles, VA) yesterday and got another Avenger Skyland, black dial on a bracelet. They are taking 30% off MSRP. I was told they are no longer carrying the brand. I heard Rolex had something to due with the transition. This location had a descent selection left...about 15-20 pieces. A few Emergencies, Skylands, Navitimers, and Seawolfs.

Bingo. Fink's is expanding their Rolex collection now that Carlyle & Co is bankrupt. Rolex won't allow them to get more watches as long as Breitling is in the same store. Rolex doesn't want people to comparison shop and see how much more you get for your money with B.

I look for an expansion of Ross Simon in the area now, as they are going to be the only people carrying Breitling in NC that I know of. I just wish someone would pick up IWC! :lingsrock:

Couldn't let this slide by without posting--I recently bought my 1st Breitiling. Went with Fink's based on a recommendation from someone here and the significant discount mentioned in this thread. I dealt with the store manager at the Cary Towne Mall. Communications were great.

The watch I got from them was obviously well-used even though I had been assured it was new. Scratches, dings, and an engraved manufacture date showing it had been made almost 3 years ago. I sent it back, and they accepted it and apologized repeatedly for the "confusion". There was nothing confusing to me--it was sloppy salesmanship and questionable ethics.

I bought from George the following week and everything was perfect.

Wow! Sorry to hear about that. I've dealt with Neil, the manager, several times, and he's always been very helpful and honest AFAIK. He was also the guy who spent 40 minutes helping me with a difficult bracelet that he didn't sell me, which was very nice (I thought). And he's very knowledgeable about the brand too, which is nice.

Fortunately they made it right in the end, which hopefully says something good about them.

Dang! Less competition means less discounts (generally). That sucks.

The people at RS have always been nice (heck, they're salespeople!) but the one time I had to have a Breitling serviced through them, they ripped me off. Plain and simple, I got reamed. So I don't mind shopping there to see what looks good on my wrist and to price compare, but they will have to bend over far and wide to get my business again.

YMMV.
