Guys,

I bought a genuine croco band with stainless steel deployment for my super avenger a few weeks back, I've used this maybe 5 or 6 days in total but it just isn't as confortable as the bracelet so I was going to sell it, now here's the problem.
I bought this from my AD in Ireland for €420+€240 witch is almost $900 and while browsing to see what the price would be for a used crocodile band I've noticed most are priced around $450, is this normal? From what I've seen most Breitling accessories hold their value pretty well, this is in like new condition and I'm facing a loss of almost 50%. What I wanted to know is... is this normal with the croco bands? Is there a reason for these to loose so much value when you see rubber bands going for almost the same price as the AD has them new? Have I been ripped off by the AD?

Thanks!

to be honest any used item selling for 50% of its retail is pretty normal. If i were you i would just keep the croco and have steel as well that way the watch is more versatile. but if you cant stand the croco the way it wears selling it for 50% of its retail is more than fair.

Well I understand your point the thing is I keep seeing other bands like the diver style OR and Pro Diver, etc being sold for prices much closer to the retail price and seen the prices going on this one and was a bit shocked as I kinda figured if I don't like it I'll just sell it and get a good bit of my money back.
Then I started wondering if I had been ripped off by my own AD. I bought 3 watches of them and a few accessories too, not to mention the jewlery the wife buys there too, never thought they would do that but it started to get into my mind.

I'm not sure I agree about the rubber straps. In general I think they sell for pretty close to 50% of MSRP.

I also thing Breitling croc straps while lovely, are a total ripoff. :)

US retail price is a big ripoff at $720. i dont know what the prices are like over there, but $900 doesnt sound too far fetched. I wouldnt say your AD ripped you off, but Breitling certainly did

Id bet that youd be lucky to get even half that if you sold it.

You are certainly suffering from paying more than the global price for new - that's the problem with European prices, but as others have said 50% is about right. In addition to other considerations some buyers just don't like the idea of a used strap, especially a leather / croc that can absorb sweat and that will reduce the pool of potential buyers and therefore tends to depress the price.
