Hi I am Very new to breilting and am about to purchase a second hand chronomat two tone from my local ABD. I think its about 2000 to 2004. They dealer says all details a solid gold but my research shows the the crown and pushers are plated (which I thinks would be most susceptible to ware) The breitling has been serviced and looks like new. I have not seen any thing like it before. The dial is blue and the sub dials are gold with blue on the inside( all others like it has all gold sub dials. It is on a blue strap but i am getting a new SS pilot for it. The gold details all look new. So my questions are do these ware off like you see in cheap watches, Do I need to worry about it???? What is the approximate second hand value ( on a new SS pilot) of it Also any info on winder greatly appreciated. Many thanks Breanach.

If you use the search function then you will find hundreds of threads on winders.

The crown and pushers are neither solid gold or plated, they are rolled gold - that's a sheet of gold 20 microns thick laminated to (in this case) a steel core. It's much more resilient than gold plate which is only one molecule thick and not laid in a sheet. Rolled gold will wear off eventually, but no where near as quickly as plated.

To get an indication of value the best place to look is the completed auctions on eBay.
