Hi everyone,
Just stumbled across this site when looking how to do a clean and overhall on my ~'96 Jupiter Pilot.

I have worn it pretty much all day everyday for the last 15 years. Worn day and night, swimming in salt water/pool, running/biking, when doing DIY projects, etc. etc. you name it....never comes off. It is starting to look a little banged up and I think it's time to treat it to a little polish and overhaul. The battery just went so now is the perfect time as it is going to be out of service for the battery replacement anyway.

So these are the (mostly cosmetic) things that I would like to take care of:
- A few fairly deep scratches on the face. Can these be 'buffed' out or does the face/crystal need to be replaced?
- The outer numbers on the dial are getting worn as is the dial itself. Can the dial be replaced even though this watch is no longer made?
- A bunch of other scratches and nicks.
- What else should I do given that all that has been done to this watch in 15yrs is change the battery?
- I'm assuming that the Breitling repair dept. in CT is where I should send it unless anyone has any other suggestions?
- and, :wowzers how much (ballpark) do you think the above could cost?

Thanks very much

Welcome to BreitlingSource!

That's a lot of questions but I'll try and hit them all....

BUSA in CT is the place to send it - phone up their customer service line and follow the recorded instructions. A quartz service should cost in the $350 - $400 range, but Breitling are going to ding you more than that on this occasion - a service is recommended every 5 - 7 years and they are going to find a few extra things wrong with it that need attention after 15 years without seeing it.

A full service includes a polish and you'll be impressed with what they can do. Without seeing how deep the scratches are it's tough to say that they will all come out, but Breitling works wonders. Their general approach to crystals is to replace - easier and cheaper. The dial can be replaced - BUSA will assess the watch and advise if they recommend a restoration / replacement.
