Hello all,

I'm thinking of acquiring the BB (brushed) with the new dial option. Anyone bought or saw this dial option in person? Comments? Which combination do you think I should go for?

I saw the polished Blackeye Blue Blackbird on black leather strap in a local AD, and I liked the dial, but I didn't fancy the strap on it, and I didn't like the polished bezel. I also saw a brushed classic (black dial) Blackbird on Ocean Racer strap at another AD, and that one looked very cool! My problem with the Blackbird is that I'm a bracelet guy, but I don't like the brushed Pilot bracelet -- and the polished head is too shiny, the bezel isn't supposed to be polished. So if I ever get a Blackbird, it would be a brushed head on Ocean Racer.

About the dial colour, I'm not sure which one I'd get. The Blackeye Blue looks very nice and my wife says blue is the colour that suits me best (she means both cloth and watch face). But to me the Blackbird (the aircraft) says black, very-very black. Matte black. That is the classic black face. It has a tremendous presence that not many watches can pull off.

But I've voted for the Blackeye Blue version on Ocean Racer, because I'm not against the new face at all, and I suppose it won't get many votes

BTW, I hope one day Breitling starts making a polished Blackbird case + brushed classic Breitling bezel (not the B01 font bezel) + polished Pilot bracelet combo. I'll be the first one in line to buy that.

Hi All!

I totally Agree! Furthermore, I will add that the Blackbird has no business being anything but brush steel. As I recall the orginal Blackbird paid homage to the American SR-71 reconnaissance/spy plane - which at one time was the fastest plane ever & still might be - not sure.
As a result Breitling marketed the watch as stealthy true to the SR-71 pedigree - therefore deserving a brush steel finish - PERIOD!!!

I no longer have old Chronologs from the mid 1990's to the early 2000's but if you do & look at the Blackbird it will basically state what I just said. The problem/issue is that Breitling decided to cash in on trends & made the Blackbird Blingy!!!

And now you have my "Five Cents"

Best Regards,

Enezdez

I agree it's just not a BB without the BB black dial.

I like the polished and brushed equally well and don't see some demonic Bretling plot in the introduction of the polished model. After all it's not as though the real BB fighter is brushed steel.. If we want to go that direction then the new blacksteel BB is the real homage. Ugh.

What makes the BB "stealthy" are the extra facets on each bracelet link - angles everywhere that decrease or eliminate radar image.

For me it's not a BB without the bracelet. Or a black dial. Polished or brushed is a matter of personal choice.

"new" doesn't have to mean "bad". If there were never change, then there would be no progress.

I like it!

Hi Again!

I never said that change was bad - ever! However, I do not need some Madison Avenue Advertising Executive trying to hood-wink me in believing that it is just another incarnation of the Blackbird - when it is not. It is a dynamic watch on it's on merit - just do not call it a Blackbird!

I have no clue  how anyone could have inferred from the previous postings within this thread that there are satanic or demonic powers at play here – very silly and juvenal in an attempt to subjugate an idea or notion that does not agree with theirs– Sharkman!

All this DLC crap is nothing more than a feeble attempt at re-inventing the wheel in order to feed the nouveau riche & divest them of their new found wealth! Furthermore, that’s perfectly ok with me because it is Capitalism at its finest!

However, at the end of the day this DLC is just a fad that will swiftly go away! :nana: I predict that these timepieces will be worth the same as their respected-time tested (no pun intended) “normal” (for lack of a better word) watches. Or perhaps even less due to lack of desirability! Also just for the record the SR-71 is not a fighter.

In addition the brush steel version of the Blackbird was marketed by Breitling in the manner in which I had described as per the respected Chronolog – it is the true & original form of the Breitling Blackbird with bracelet. :geek:

Nonetheless assuming that you live in the “Free Civilized World” you can choose with your hard-earned currency to buy whatever brings you pleasure – Sharkman – it’s called purchasing power. Moreover, there are no demons at work here just Capitalism!

Best Regards,

Enezdez

Black dial brushed BB is my choice however it's not the worst thing I've ever seen - on Pilot though.

The BB brushed with black dial also looks and wears nice on the new Diver Pro II with brushed deployant!
