Hi there!

First post here and i'm looking for "potentially", my first Breitling. My fiancee has agreed to buy it for me, as i bought her engagment ring. :)

ATM, i'm looking at a B13050.1 with blue face. Obviously it's quite old now, but i have found one that seem's like a good one(have checked the serial number with Beitling and it sounds good) and also, Andrew Micheals Jewelers done a service and replaced the strap not long ago...receipt to prove.

My question is about the serial number itself....or way is it exactly? I was only told the number and going by the pictures, i can only imagine it's inside the back cover. If i got the watch, should i have a specialist remove the back to protect the water seal, or is that something your capable of doing yourself? I was only thinking ahead if i bought this specific watch and wanted to make sure the chap was honest, or indeed if i bought a similar watch.

Many thanks

Watcha,

the number will be on the back of the watch and matched on the paperwork (make sure it has this).

Great pressie!

Hi Alan, thanks for commenting.

I've seen pictures and neither the model or serial number is on the back....here is the link to when it was last sold...

No doubt the watch is real.

The s/n should be directly below the B13050 model number on the case back. The s/n is not engraved so deeply so can wear off over time.

I do have some concerns over this auction. The seller bought it for £1250 only 2 weeks ago and is starting this auction at £850. That's quite a hit to take.

And the words in the auction are identical to the one he bought from.

Not saying this is a scam but ask the seller any questions you have and don't bid if you're not happy with the answers.

Many thanks for that. :)

I've been in contacted with the current seller and also the seller of the above link. The story goes the current chap bought and and discovered his missus had just bought a Rolex for him. He's subsequently been told to sell one or the other and he chose this one.

As long as the watch is real, i don't mind about anything else. I figure a watch about 15 years old is never going to be the same way as it was when first purchased.

Never bought an expensive watch before and with there being so many fakes about and not having a trained eye, i know i need to ask as many questions as possible.

Were there many fakes of older models like these?

Just to ask, is the one in this link real as well? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 3DWatching
I'm sure the bullet strap is original and therefore more valuable, but with no box or papers, does the value come down? Seller doesn't give out the serial number for security reasons and gives you 7 days from receipt to decide if you want to keep it.

That one looks good to me.

The box and papers will reduce the value slightly, although you can 'build' most of it back box and instruction manual from BUK. You wont's have the warranty / service book but obviously the warranty has long expired anyway, and there was no COSC certificate for this.

Sharkmouth and bnewbie are the experts on fakes, but I believe that there are fakes of this model, but not to the same quality of modern fakes.

Great watch by the way!

I'd be very happy to bid on the second auction.

No question it's real and looks like a good seller.
