Post subject: | ICE Agents wear Breitling |
On Thursday of last week I was part of a group providing tactical medical training to paramedic agents from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (http://www.ice.gov/). It was a small group of 15 agents. As one would expect, several wore Casio G Shocks, but 3 of them wore Breitlings. One agent, a female paramedic and weapons specialist, wore a Superocean with black dial and the circular hour markers. One wore an Emergency Mission with black dial and silver subs (wedding gift from his wife); and the third wore a black dial Colt or Superocean with numbers all the way around the dial (didn't get a good look). Just thought it was pretty cool how in Breitlings were with this crowd! |

"One agent, a female paramedic and weapons specialist..." Ironic and interesting all at the same time...In any event, it seems as if this is a continuing trend. I remember the mid-eighties through the mid-90's in particular, Breitling seemed to be on every third operators wrist while in civilian clothes. I was lucky enough to have dinner with several intel (active and not so much...) folks this weekend in Manhattan. These ladies and gentlemen represented some 17 countries and at one point, we counted 37 different languages and dialects spoken during the elongated dinner. Being the ocd type, I did a personal survey of wrist wear and 63% of the folks were wearing Breitlings. The rest were a smattering of what you'd expect. I didn't mean to hijack your tread. |

I work for customs and a couple of our guys here are watch enthousiasts too. Some with lings, some with other brands. I also sighted a couple of the guys from CBP pre-clearance upstairs wearing a ling. |

I think those operators with saavy go for Breitlings, and those that want to show off go for Rolex and B&R. Just my 2 cents. ![]() |

"I think those operators with saavy go for Breitlings, and those that want to show off go for Rolex and B&R. Just my 2 cents." Agreed. The addage that a Rolex can get you across any border no longer seems to hold, btw. Some of the younger pups might agree with this old sea dog, but it would seem that the border agents in most third world crossing points seem to prefer the "gift" of a Breitling... (BTW, it has been a while since I have hi-jacked anything, so I've forgotten protocol...) Hey, QikEnuF, keep it safe if you are where I suspect you are! |

It's fair to say I work closely with the military. My Breitlings are often appreciated – in particular, my Aviation 6081(Vintage ’77 Breitling Chrono-matic 1806) is often referred to as the “007 Special”. But I’m a lawyer – most operators don’t get paid enough to buy a nice watch! |

"...most operators don’t get paid enough to buy a nice watch!" And yet many of us own one (or even a few more, as is my case)...odd, isn't it?
