Hey everyone,

I have been checking out different Lings, looking for my next purchase. Yeah, I am totally hooked!!! Anyhow, I have been looking at the Hercules. Looks like a nice watch. Does anyone have one or know anything about them ? Would love some opinions.

Thinking of buying three Lings in one month. Good thing I am not married. HA HA HA

For some reason the Hercules never appeared to be overly loved by Breitling afficionadoes. I think it was because (much like the current SOH) it didn't have that classic Breitling "look". I think it was the bezel that did it....

Anyway, the movement was very similar to the current Skyracer, albeit with an additional subdial at 6 that the Skyracer doesn't have. If my memory serves (and it was a long time ago that I tried one on!) it was a fairly reasonable sized watch..... although the passage of time and an SA on my arm might mean it wasn't as large as I remember! It also had a Heritage style integrated bracelet which again wasn't to everyone's taste.

The plus side of all this general lack of enthusiasm for it means that there aren't many around, so if you do manage to score one on the second-hand market, then you won't see many others on people's wrists.

I can remember trying one on (for a bit of a laugh) at Mappin & Webb at Heathrow a few years back. Considering at the time I passed up a standard Navitimer because it was too big it looked ridiculous! Weighed an absolute ton as well! I think it was 224g or 1/2lb!
