Hi i need abit of advice I am going togo buy my first watch tomorow! and yes it's going be a Breitling but im just not sure what colour togo for!?

It is between a Navitimer with a black dial with black strap or a Navitimer with a brown strap and a white dial?

Hello hpuk,

first of all congratulations on Your decision to buy a Navitimer. The question for the dial is not so easy to be answered. To really answer it, we need some aditional information:
Do You already have other watches, that You plan on still wearing? If yes, what dial colours do they have?
If not, has the watchcollectors bug bitten You?
Do You plan other watchbuys in the near future?

If You answer all those questions with no or probably no, I whould recommend You to take the black dial with indexmarkers. It is the classical one, that will suite You for the next decades.

Otherwise, it depends, what else You own or want to own.

:yeahthat Couldn't agree more.

Black dial Navi's can look both classic and sporty, whereas I personally tend to feel that white dials (especially with brown leather) look predominantly more traditional. I like both, but as a starter, I'd say go with the black.

Both white and black are classic colors that go with everything. A white dial on a black strap is very nice, but maybe even nicer on a bracelet. I can understand that you don't want the same setup as your friend, but, if your friend has a Navi, maybe you should get another model? You could still get the Navitimer series.

Yes, the white dial with black leather looks good too, although I personally like the original Navi to have contrasting sub-dials which you don't get on the white.

Thinking about it, the white dial may be a good option as you could have it on a black strap now, and then if you fancy it at a later stage you can swap it out for a brown, or blue strap : the white dial is just a little more flexible in terms of the colour strap it will go with IMHO.

However, the best (and to be honest, the ONLY) way to see what you like is to go and try them on at an AD. You may find that one suits you much better than the other. They really is no substitute to seeing them in person and on your wrist.

thank you for your help i think i need to think about it today!

do you think its worth paying the extra and getting a navitimer world?

or even a navitimer cosmonaute!?

now im even more confused lol

Yes, absolutely!

I can feel that the regular Navi dial is a little bit crowded. The Navi World is a bit larger (and looks much nicer too, in my opinion) avoids the crowded dial thanks to the extra mm the dial gets. If the extra money isn't a huge problem for you, I'd absolutely go for the World instead of the regular Navi.

do you know what sorta price i should be paying as the navitimer in the place that i went into was set at the price of £2705 but the guy said they would take £2400 if i payed by debit card or cash, im guessing as its stock and they dont need to order the watch in. is this a ok price in the UK?

and can you buy a new colour dial for in the future?

Sorry, there I can't help you since I'm in Sweden. I guess the £2400 is on a strap. Just as to compare, the retail price in Sweden for a Navi on strap would be approximately £2900, at my AD that could be discounted down to £2500.

ok many thanks!

is it posible toget new coloured dials? say if i wanted to change some time down the line?

Yes it is absolutely possible to change the dial to another color. Your nearest Breitling Service Center will do that for you. I have no idea how much it would cost to replace the dial - maybe Thomas (Alien) can answer this (or if someone on the forum have done it...).

Definitely! I have a World myself and personally after wearing that I don't think I could cope with the 41mm Navi. It's just too small for me.

With regards to changing dial colours, then yes you could pay (probably quite a lot) to have that done by Breitling, but to be honest I reckon you'll be miles better off just looking at buying a second Breitling when you can afford it. If you get the bug for it like most of us on here have, you can thoroughly expect your collection to grow over the next few years anyway! :)

If you have the scratch, I would highly recommend the Navi-World.

It's much larger, much easier to read, and it's the FULL LING!

I personally would go with the Navi World with the black dial and Navi steel bracelet. My first Breitling was a SuperOcean, over 10 years ago, black dial with steel bracelet. I wore that every single day for 10 years, with everything. Now I have a Steelfish with black dial and steel bracelet. Also got a Blacksteel, which has the black rubber Diver Pro bracelet. Obviously I am biased toward black, but if that is the only watch you will have for a few years, ya can't go wrong. If it makes any difference: I am 58 years old, and the girls where I work, most of them in their 20's love the Steelfish with the black dial. They think also that the Blacksteel is "hot" and "sexy". I did not buy these as a "chick magnet" (or "bird magnet, as you guys would say), but it might give you some idea of others' opinions. Have fun!
Cheers,
Carl
