Not too helpful, lol.

Here's how you spot the fake:
1. Ask the seller to set the watch to a specific time (to make sure he actually has the watch)
2. Ask for a closeup of the dial
3. Look at the lume dots. If they are not centered and applied evenly, it's a fake.

What if he runs on a better lume than this (which is possible)?

Based on Bnewbie's display, tread lightly. My goodness that looks real.

The lume dots aren't that good. Decent, but gen is a lot better than that. And the tint on the AR is too blue. And that 8 looks funky.

Genuine

Replica

I find that the easiest way to identify these is by looking at the "S" in the word Superocean. On the genuine, the first curve at the top of the s is less well defined than that of the replica. The replica makes more of a hairpin type curve and the genuine is more of a sideways "V" shape. It's subtle but definitely IMO a characteristic flaw of the replicas.

If that would be the thing to look for this is exactly why I buy from an AD!

You can't really make a comparison between a real life photo to a mock up photo though.

Don't think I really understand your point but here is a genuine SOH courtesy of Damnfoolman showing the characteristics of the "S" as described above. Clearly a difference between the genuine of Damnfoolman and the rep posted by Bnewbie.

And Bnewbie's fake again.

What I find striking about this is that it is even more obvious at a distance. Compare the two large photos above and I think you will see the difference quite easily.

Here's another SOH V2 posted by Sharky a few months back.

And the detail of the "S". Note the top line runs parallel to the second inconsistent with a genuine.
