Hello All,
I'm hoping someone here can help to calm my rising concern.

My wife just bought me a new Aerospace from Tourneau. She said the salesperson was quite helpful and she thought she got a good price. The problem is that it didn't come with the manual and warranty card. He told my wife it got separated in shipping from their disctibution facility and that they would be sending out to us on Tuesday. I'm concerned that this isn't a new watch and I'm not sure what the packaging should look like. The watch looks new and has a leather band that appears new. Is there anything in particular that I should be looking for. I looked for a section on the Breitling site to register the watch and verify someone hadn't tried to register it before, but I couldn't find it.

Thanks in advance for the help

I suggest you call either BUSA or BUK and tell them whats happened as it sounds a but suspicious to me, They will tell you what to do.

I've heard of cases where this has happened before. Tourneau is a reputable company. I would just wait and see what arrives as they promised. The warranty card should have the date of original sale on it along with Tourneau's dealer stamp and signature. It should have the serial number on it that matches the watch. There should also be a cosc certificate (with matching serial number) and an instruction booklet. I don't think you should worry too much about it. I'm sure they will sort it out.

:yeahthat

Tourneau are a major AD, they aren't going to risk that misrepresenting a watch as new when it isn't.

The manufacture date is coded between the 6 o'clock lugs (first 4 digits are WWYY of manufacture), but you will likely need to remove the strap and don't do that without the right tool (Bergeon 6767F) as you don't want to scratch the case. Tourneau should be happy to take the strap off and show you, but bear in mind that a new watch may still be more than a year old - new simply means never sold before.

Just to update my original post:

I did receive the cardboard box, the black plastic box and the black leather watch case. Inside the black, white and yellow cardboard box is a ziplock plastic bag with a yellow tag with a red cord. The is no paperwork of any kind inside the box. Does anyone know what I should be receiving for paperwork?

thanks

Sometimes I've had that the AD has registered the watch and upon final registration he has sent me all documents. On the other hand, sometimes it's been complete when I walked out the door. My guess is it'll come to your mailbox soon. :)

Bad news: After a week and no paperwork, various stories why (all counter to what the previous person told me) and just a general uncomfortable feeling with this AD, I returned the watch.

Good news: There are two ADs within walking distance from the previous giant mall dweller AD. This will be my first Breitling and I have to decide if I should purchase the same watch or look for something different.

Thanks to all the members here for all the knowledge I've gained by reading past posts. If I would have known I was going to be purchasing a Breitling I would have done my research here first :) and saved myself a lot of time and anxiety.

I'm sorry to hear that. What was their excuse for not providing the paperwork as promised? Also, what other watch/watches are you considering?

Hi br,

The first reason was some how it got separated, it would be found and sent along. Second, I spoke the the store manager who told me they get separated at eh distribution facility and he would personally make sure I receive it no later than Wednesday. He went on to tell me how I might want purchase an extended warranty which covered free batteries and bracelets (which I would need to replace annually) for three years, thus it would pay for itself. I received a call on late Tuesday saying my paperwork was in and I could come pick it up, then someone in the background told the person he was supposed to send it to me. He apologized for calling and said he would send it right out. When the paperwork didn't show up, I called on Friday and asked to speak with the store manager. I was told the reason why I didn't have it was because it had to be ordered from Breitling. At that point I told the manager I would see them in an hour and I would be returning the watch. Needless to say I won't be recommending this AD.

As for watches I'm looking at, I like the watch my wife picked out - bronze face Aerospace with brown leather strap. I have an Omega Seamaster Ti, so I'm looking for something different than a dive watch. I like light weight of the Aerospace and the leather band gives it a different look. So I thought the bronze face with a gold croc deployment strap and maybe the ti spare brace would be perfect. My only hesitation is the Aerospace is quartz and I was think an auto-winder would be nice also. Too many choices :) ... I also have to wait, possibly two weeks for the funds to be returned to my account, so I'm trying to do more research.

Thanks for your concern and interest. :lingsrock:

:yeahthat Got mine from him. Excellent customer service and a good deal.

2 weeks for research could be a double-edged sword. Beware of the Photo Gallery, You could find a whole new style to obsess over.

Hey Jefferson,
I know what you mean. I keep hearing this small voice in my head saying {{B01...B01...}}. I think I need to stay off the Breitling site and the configurator for a while.

Alex,
I have thought of writing BUSA, I truly belief this AD will end up taking themselves out. While I was there the other day and I over heard one of the sales people telling a customer that Rado had pulled out. Maybe the start of things or something totaly unrelated, but I won't be returning.

take care
