I'm ready to purchase 1st Breitling. Chrono Super Avenger. Is it wise to do online ? Any reputable websites? |

You'll have most members here tell you it's best to purchase your first from an AD. Some AD's can't give you the big discount you may be looking for though which I ran across. There are reputable sites online, but you won't get the warranty card. If you have any service issues, you have to send it back to the seller so they may complete the warranty in most cases. There are some great discounts online, but if you can find an AD you like and can get close, it would be best to purchase from them. I did not purchase from and AD, I purchased my Navi-World from www.PrestigeTime.com . See "Feedback" section for reviews. Best of luck on your decision! ~Brian |

I agree with Brian. It's best, when it's for the first time to go through an AD. If you however decides not to, there are a few internet companies reviewed in the Feedback section. Good luck! |

tsummer, I was in your position several months ago. I spent about 5 months reading this forum, every day, and colelcting information and stories about purchases. In the end, while I was tempted by the less expensive online purchases, I bought fom my AD. I paid a bit more, but I have a 0% percent of having a fake watch. When I weighed everything, in the end, that single factor was worth it. 100% authenticity, without a shred of doubt. I also planned on buying more than one over the next few years, and wanted to start a relationship with an AD. It makes it easy for me to just pop in, try on a few watches, shoot the breeze about different brands, models...etc, and leave without the pressure of having to buy anything. They know I'll be back, and they know I'll be a buyer again, and they treat me accordingly. Plus, if I have any problems I can bring the watch back to them, with no problems. Honestly, it seems like the risk of a headache with an online purchase is relatively low, but boy oh boy, if it happened to me, would I ever regret not spending a few extra bucks. |

I'd advise going to an AD too, if only for peace of mind. I'd go one step further too, and choose your AD carefully. Theres a suprising difference between one retailer and another...how friendly and knowledgeable the staff are, how good the coffee is, how slowly the female assistant crosses her legs as she sits opposite you mopping your fevered brow. I've heard a legend that a mark of a good Breitling AD is them having a Bentley or two in stock...a sign that Breitling aknowleges their status as top end ADs based on sales ?? You may not get a discount from an AD for your first Breitling purchase, but you will most likely get one for your second, and more again for your third....and a free polish and another coffee (and in my case, free marital advise and some cream for a rather embarrassing rash too) next time you are passing. |

nice 1st choice of a pick up on the watch. I curently just ordered my 1st and its on its way. 2-3 weeks from here. I Will keep you posted 
I got mine from a family AD also. If you going to purchase your watch online vs an AD I wouild recommend AD just to sleep better at night you know? There are so many fakes out there and some that are very hard to tell between real and fake these days, but I am sure wherever you get it just make sure you do your homework. Good luck! |

I have to agree with MoreCowbell. To me, part of getting the watch is the relationship you make with the AD. When I went to pick up my Steelfish, I had my SuperOcean of 10 years with me, and it needed some minor repairs, which he did on the spot free of charge while he adjusted the bracelet on my new one. Apart from that, I just get excellent service and advice every time I go in there. I also know that I will get a fair discount from people with integrity and a knowledge of good customer service. The fellow that I deal with is so knowlegable, and he really enjoys discussing watches, and how they are made. I have learned a lot from him. That is why they are in business, they have a passion for watches just like everyone in this forum. I think that is all the more reason to give them our support. Happy hunting! hey congrats on the upcoming watch purchase, the sa is a great start. i have to agree with everyone here. while you could save some money buying online, it is great to have a responsive ad nearby if something happens to your watch. i had problems with the date wheel on my motors t, so i would just drop it off at the ad, they were very responsive and would give me hats and other things because they felt bad i had to keep coming back to get it repaired. finally they just swapped out the movement and gave me a new 2 year warranty . i don't think you'll find that kind of help with an online dealer. although i'm sure the good ones are quite helpful/friendly. jason |

I have to agree with the previous post - on the 2 occaisions I've had to visit the AD with a problem, it was dealt with efficiently and cheaply. Thanks to Breitling I've developed a very healthy relationship with my AD and I would strongly recommend buying from one. I might indeed buy a camera accessory from HK because I'm not particularly bothered about taking it back, I'm not going to use the same logic for something which costs 10 time more. |

One of the big advantages for me to buy online is SALES TAX. Sales tax here is 9.25% of the purchase price. ~Brian |

The majority of the time if you buy from out of state AD, you can avoid sales tax also and still mostly get 25% off the retail price. |

I've done it now.... Purchased this afternoon from out of town AD whom I spoke to over the phone. I feel the safest going this way. Thanks to everyone for the input, advice, contacts, Etc... |

brian are you sure about the sales tax? in california if you buy something from out of state, they don't (can't i think) apply any sales tax since those are for only local transactions. i thought this applied to all 50 states. i know a lot of other online sellers, amazon for example, doesn't apply a sales tax for orders from california since they dont have a physical presence in the state. jason |
