But maybe starting with something smaller, like mugs would be more realistic.

Yeah but finding straps would be such a pain...

Well, I'm still into it. I'd prefer a nicely designed watch over a coffecup any day.

I guess there are two major concerns.

* How much are you allowed to "design" yourself on the dial?

* Finding the other 48 lunatics (withdrawn myself and Sportback from the 50...).

For the second one, I guess it might be the killer. I've had serious problems in other forum earlier to get less than 50 people agree on a forum t-shirt, both regarding design and the price (which was approx 20€...). To get 50 people to agree on a design and then spend approx 3k€ on it...

I know, I know - I did say it was a wild idea after all

Another one of my wild ideas was to try to convince our local authority to put up road signs in braille...(naturally they didn't see the point)

Oh well...

Road signs in braille sounds terrific. Almost as my idea - radio broadcasts with subtitles for the deaf...

We have had discussions in the past about a group purchase - I think that still has some merit and may be a better starting point. the advantages would be that we don't need 50 and we don't all need to get the same model / colour combo. We could still benefit from the economies of scale - I know for sure that my AD would do us something special on a purchase of ten or so Breitlings and I suspect that many others would also.

I'dlove to know Alien's views - obviously he has to deal with relatively high Austrian prices, but he is our local tame AD :)

While I understand this, my original idea was for a unique dial design - sadly 'they' wont consider doing that for fewer than 50 of the same model.

For me the funniest thing about the roadsigns in braille is that I actually suggested this (tongue in cheek but with a serious look on my face) and the guy from the town hall stood there thinking about it for at least a minute before a smile slowly crossed his face and he replied "Not very practical really"

Yeah I get that, and I for one would sign up if it was the right model, I guess I'm just thinking that if you look at the memberlist then the top 50 posters (not necessarily the fairest measure I know) takes us down to 31 posts - are we convinced that everyone with 31 or more posts will buy one? If only half of the top posters are interested then we are down to people with 12 posts.

I don't want to pour cold water on it - I think it's a great idea, just concerned about the practicality at this stage.

I do know a guy who makes t-shirts!

The idea of a watch is intriguing, but to be honest, when it came time to actually write the check for it, it would probably all-of-a-sudden become less appealing. Besides, the coolest thing would about that watch be if you ran into someone else wearing that same "private label" watch. But of course, the odds of that are pretty slim.

P.S. I'm hoping this post puts me into the top 50!

Actually forget the watch and the T-shirt ; I'm gonna vote for a tie with a Breitling Source crest on it. Kinda like a Harry Potter sort of tie....., but more watch-based instead of magic and wands based.

I will fall in line with most everyone else and say that it sounds like a cool idea and I would be interested, but it would all come down to how much and what model.

I would be interested as well depending on the final look of the watch, I think it would be a pretty neat idea. How about having the backs engraved as well as numbered rather then changing up the actual dial? Just an idea.

T-Shirts is definately doable... We could definately look into that one. I'm into the watch for sure if there is one, so we'd need 47 other lunatics ;)

Something with a customdial would be hot. A BreitlingSource tie would be cool too.

We could get just about anything with BreitlingSource stamped on it :D
