Gday all, I am in the market for a new watch and have been looking closely at the Airwolf. I like the look of it and options it contains such as dual time and the flight computer (slide rule). One thing I have noticed whilst perusing the forum is that it doesnt seem as though there are many Airwolf owners out there in comparison to other models. There appears to be a number of people keen to purchase B1's, but not so many talking about Airwolf. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the Airwolf? Also, for the Airwolf owners out there, what are your feelings about this model and are there any issues / concerns with the watch? I have read the review in the "Breitling Watch Reviews" section, but am keen to hear peoples thoughts. On a side note, I currently reside in Australia but will be visiting New York in a couple weeks. Can anyone recommend some Breitling AD's in NYC? Regards Ben |

I think B1s can be bought used but Airwolfs are fairly new or maybe the styling is not to everyones likes. |

Everybody loved the B1 and was upset when the airwolf replaced it. Thats pretty much it. I happen to like the Airwolf more than the B1 though. |

It's a great watch. Backlighting is awesome. It has the coolest caseback on the market. I can only recommend it. Sure the B1 is nice as well, but feels a little bit "retro" to me. It's always nice to go for a new watch to start with. You can always go for a second-hand watch later. Show us some pics when you have pulled the trigger. // Mattias |

Airwolf was my first Breitling. I am extremely happy with it. I tried an Aerospace, but could not handle the "weight" of it. Like so many of the members here, the Breitling count has only increased with the Airwolf purchase. I will say that my favorite B right now is my Blackbird. Good luck and keep us posted. R/ |

the latest airwolf without the sunburst dial is the one I like. It's not on the top of my list, but I like it. |

It's a style thing Many disliked the sunburst on the 1st Airwolf, and the change of bezel too. The new style wolf dial is much nicer in my opinion. The backlight is brighter somehow than on the B1 and I think the alarm is louder too. The caseback is similar but slightly changed. Functions are the same. Wears the same and both are tough, almost indestructible. So it really is all about looks really. You cannot go wrong with either. Davey ![]() ![]() |

I'm not a quartz guy but I do prefer the new dial to the original sunburst. I think that the B1 had such a cult following that anything was going to be seen as a disappointment after it, and the love it / hate it sunburst was too polarising. |

bnewbie wrote: It's not the sunburst, it's a turbine!! ![]() ![]() I was just about to add that myself ![]() I have the blue 'turbine' dial version which I wear both on the Pro2 and leather. Looks great with both. The white pin stripe dial pictured above looks absolutely fantastic on a brown strap. The Airwolf really does have some innovative features like the turbine case back that acts as a resonance chamber and the geared bezel. Just a couple of reasons why I like the watch so much ![]() I like the B1 also, but possibly not enough to own one as I find the bezel just a touch dated. |

Hi Ben, I'm an Aussie who used to live in Brisbane but now calls Seattle home. I picked up the older style (turbine face) Airwolf with co-pilot bracelet about 7months ago and love it. It feels solid, substantial, and for me really practical. Although small, I'm able to use the E6B style bezel just as easily as my wiz-wheel, the usefullness of the UTC and second time zone goes without saying. I use the 2nd timezone alarm just as a backup reminder to cancel flightplans (when VFR and crossing timezone), and use both the timer and stopwatch for my enroute nav. The functions are quick, and intuitive to use once you've got some practice in with them. Backlighting has already been mentioned by others. So if you want the joy of a NEW Breitling, and a free hat from BUSA, then get the Airwolf. Otherwise a 2nd hand B1 will be cheaper and essentially the same. But as one from the land of overpriced and taxed consumer products, I'd say use the exchange rate to your advantage and get a shiny new Airwolf in the cheap consumer paradise of the USA ![]() Good luck! Thanks guys for the insight provided. Much appreciated. Matt - thanks for your review, just what i was after. I like the idea of using the 2nd timezone alarm as a reminder to cancel your SAR. I think i will wait to check out the US market before I jump in, but as soon as I do I will post photos of the new addition. Thanks again guys. Ben |

Regards Ben Too bad you're not in NYC this week. There were about 4 or 5 Airwolfs for 50% off at the Tourneau sale at Soifer Haskins. I believe the sale is until the end of the week. |
