Post subject:  Rubber straps or bracelet
Whats peoples experience with the rubber straps. Do they hold the watch well, do they wear ok? Are they light for a Breitling?

Is there alot of difference in the cost between a pro diver strap and say a steel bracelet?

Im just interested in peoples experiences with the rubber strap.

Can't say I'm a massive fan of rubber straps, much prefer leather.

I found the Diver pro irritating to feed through the buckle as the rubber is obviously grippy. Think a deployment would solve that, but just don't think I'm keen on the 'grippy' feel around the wrist anyway.

The cheapest bracelet is about 4 times more expensive than the cheapest rubber strap.

I have a pro diver 1 strap on the SA right now. Like Mart said, it is quite annoying fastening the buckle, but the strap looks good, and i find it quite comfortable. I've had it for 6 months and is holding up well with daily use.

I regularly switch My B1 on UTC on Fighters bracelet/Diver Pro (Rubber). Both extremely comfortable, plus you get a whole different look.

The Breitling Rubber Straps are quite substantial and feel great on most B's. Don't worry they sit well, feel good and look great.

a little hard to get on but looks absolutely great when paired up with the right watch head.

From the configurator, the Diver Pro looks fantastic on a BO1 Carbon Black dial. What do you think, mind you the steel bracelet is good to, but the rubber bracelet gives it a more sporty look in my opinion, the steel bracelet more an executive type look.

Lings are made for bracelets! Big, shiny watches get big, shiny bracelets. You do not put Toyos on a Ferrari, nor do you put rubber on an otherwise Full Ling piece. There should be no further discussion. :evil:


The old guard will recognize the tone and my firm-ish tounge in cheek intent. You strap and rubber fans can relax, just replaying an old thread theme. :D Everybody breathe.
That being said, I personally really prefer bracelets. Not to the religious ferver Lingman and Naviman did, but I do think they look and feel better. :lingsrock: Just MHO.

I had a CSO / OceanRacer with deployant combo and really liked it. Breitling straps, both rubber and leather, are very good. I've compared the OR strap to a couple of other similar after market straps and the OR just mopped the floor with them. No contest.

I found that the rubber strap was very comfortable to wear. It has a bit of flex that you don't get with a bracelet, so it can fit nice and snug without getting tight. The deployant is also great, but I think a lot of people find that it isn't quite worth the extra $$ it costs.

My guess is that if you like rubber straps in general, you will love the ones Breitling has.

I find the Ocean Racer rubber strap to be very comfortable. The deployment clasp really helps with the sizing to find that perfect fit. I also have a 49 on the Diver Pro II rubber strap and it works just as well. In the end it is really personal preference.

I like my Ocean Racor on my SOH 46, however I still do have an issue with the deployment ratchet mechanism loosening while I'm wearing it. It tends to skip teeth, from if/when the folding portion of the clasp presses against the PUSH button. I sent it back to Breitling (6 weeks), and all they did was remove a very small amount of material from the edge of the PUSH button. It helped very little. I guess I'll live with it.......... :?

I like my rubber strap for a change once in a while. Its nice and thick and seems like it will hold up forever. Cost is about $100 compared to about $500 for a Pro II bracelet.

I have the Diver Pro, Ocean Racer, Croc and bracelets and I can tell you that the rubber straps instantly change the look of your watch. The rubber Breitling uses is top notch and wears very well. My daily has been on an Ocean Racer for almost a year or so and I love the deployment clasp. Before I had this particular watch on a Diver Pro and really didnt mind the buckle, but its no comparison to the Ocean Racer. A couple of notes though: the rubber it a dirt attractor and when new (at least for me) the rubber pulls a little on the arm hair. For that diver look and/or a daily working mans watch, its hard to beat the rubber straps.

Now if Breitling would get off thier ____ and design the bracelets with the Ocean Racer deployment type clasp..... well that would be too easy now wouldnt it.

Personally, from a purely aesthetic point of view, I'm not a fan of rubber on watches full-stop, and that goes for rubber bezels too. I just think they look cheap, even the OR. That said, I understand the practicality of a Diver Pro if you are going to actually use it for diving, but that aside I MUCH prefer leather (or croco) as the alternative to a bracelet.

BUT, IMO Breitlings generally suit bracelets much more. All mine are on bracelets except my 6.75 which is on croco, and that's just because I wanted it to look as different as possible to my Motors.
