Post subject:  Need some help : SOH or Omega Seamaster Chrono

Hi all, currently have a 10 year old Breitling Blackbird and mis size blue seamaster.

Thinking it's time for a new watch and have narrowed it down to the 2 above..... Love the Black and Silver look.

Tried a SOH on quickly last time was in town but couldn't get a good idea of it's size. Like many I gave small wrists so it's the size of the SOH that's my main concern..... Don't want to look like I have a dustbin lid strapped to my wrist.

I know oversize is now the rage..... Anyone got any thoughts in both alternatives.

Any feedback would be very appreciated.

Hi.
The SOH line also has a 38mm model if size is a big issue.
I take it you're looking at the regular seamaster, and not the planet ocean chrono which is almost as big as the SOH.
I have the 46mm SOHC and it fits very nice on the wrist despite the size.
Also, the SOH looks a lot better than the seamaster IMO.

Thanks for the feedback. I think the 38 is a bit too small :-) I made the mistake years ago in getting the mid size Seamaster which looks tiny now.

I have read that some feel the SOH looks smaller and wears better on the rubber sports bracelet, how much would the mesh bracelet be if I wanted to retro fit at a later date?

Thanks again.

You mean this Seamaster chrono?

I miss it, wish I hadn't sold it. As a true dive watch I think it beats the SOH hands down. I like the SOH but of these two I'd take the Seamaster.

That's the one mate..... Loved it in the blue but the black takes it to a whole new level.

Fantastic looking, functional and not overally big, I think it's 41.5mm

But I love Breitling, love my Blackbird and the SOH has a great retro feel to it.

Decisions decisions thanks for the feedback that's has helped a lot.

Retail is $650. Its the same price that it would be if you bought it on the watch to begin with...the only difference is that you may be getting a bigger % off the entire purchase when buying it on the watch as opposed to as a separate sale at a later date.

Well firstly, as a Breitling forum don't be too surprised if the SOHC comes out on top here!

However, that said, we do tend to have a much wider appreciation for other brands than some forums out there. But in this case I'd definitely go with the SOHC as I just find the Omega is way too common. Granted, the Chrono is much less common than the standard SMP (which I guarantee you will see on at least one person's wrist if you walk into any pub in the land!), but it's still more common than the SOHC.

Additionally I don't personally think 46mm is really "oversized" at all, and it definitely wears smaller than the Navi World (which is the same size) on account of having less crystal area due to the thickness of the bezel. (The SA is the only truly oversize piece in Breitling's collection IMHO).

As usual it's a case of "try before you buy". Good luck!

Thanks Driver8....much appreciated.

I reliase there maybe a slight leaning to the SOH which in fairness mirrors my current feeling.

Maybe I'm subconciously hoping everyone will plum for the SOH thus making my mind up

I own both these watches and I can tell you that they are really different animals. For one the SMP is a chrono whereas the SOH is not. The Omega wears much much smaller but much thicker and heavier too. At 41mm it is a lot heavier than my motors which is almost pushing 49mm and you will feel the weight. The SOH on OR is probably the most comfortable watch out there and it wears smaller than 46mm. I have a 6 3/4 wrist and in no way does it look big on me nor does the bentley. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, no I know there 2 different animals but like the black silver look of both for different reasons. I do like the SOHC but unfortunately the budget wint stretch that far so more than happy with the SOH

go for the SOH. Great watch, you wont be sorry. Omega is too common, be different.

if the omega was 42-43mm i'd take that all day. i don't like big, chunky, heavy watches with "smaller" (40-41mm) faces. i'd prolly still go for the omega, don't like the SOH look...if you're comparing the regular SO then :lingsrock:
