If my memory serves me right, they only offer the Aerospace and Emergency in Ti now, an whilst I love many of their SS models my two Ti models are two of my favorites (picture of the non identical twins below ), very light and comfortable to wear, understated finish. Surely it would be in their interests to offer Ti variants for more of their models, can only broaden their appeal I would have thought.

The modern trend is for heavy shiny watches and Ti doesn't meet that criteria. Breitling clearly don't feel that the sales volumes are there to support a more extensive titanium offering.

Well. I heard from an AD that the Seawolf / Avengers went to SS due to alot of problems with the crowns stripping out.

I would say phooey as many of you will, but I've had two TI Seawolves that had crowns strip out. Repairs were around $700.00 EACH TIME.

The TI midcase and the TI crown don't get along when they are screwed into each other, hence the threads strip away and no more screw down crown..

So bye bye TI on the Avenger cased watches...

I will say that I owned a new Aerospace for about one week before I just could not "deal" with the lack of weight. I cannot say the same for the Seawolf or other TI models.

This is the fatal flaw of Ti as whole. Although it's always considered "stronger" than SS, it's very brittle. Areas where stress is concentrated (like threads on a crown) are problematic for most Ti alloys. Where most steels will flex, bend, and deform in the presence of stress, Ti will form fractures and ultimately fail.

There are very real design problems that need to addressed when using more exotic metalurgies. A lot more care needs to be taken to minimize the places non-uniform stress accumulates As Roff said, there probably just isn't enough demand to justify the work.
