Hi All!

I'm the proud owner of a new black dial Cockpit. I just love this watch - mainly, that the size is perfect for my wrist. 41-42 is really the outside limit of comfort for me I think... I'd like to own other Breitlings, but aside from an Aerospace, I don't think anything else will fit me well enough. What do you other wrist-diameter challenged 'lingers own? Aside from another Cockpit, not sure where to go from here!

i understand what you mean as i also have relatively small wrists at 7".
however there are lots of other breitlings that are within your size range. navitimer is the first one that comes to mind, its also relatively thin so may feel more comfortable... there are also several others in the navitimer series.
aeromarine series has the superocean and colt, the chono and non-chrono of these are also 42mm i think.

i would advise trauling through the 'breitling models' section of this site as it has all the specifications for each model.

i would also advise that you go to an AD and try on some bigger models... you might be surprised. I don't mean go nuts on a SA or anything huge, but might be worth trying on something like a chronomat, it is 43.5 mm so not massive. It is also very well finished and its smoothed out appearance makes it wear a bit smaller than you might think. when i first tried it on it did seem big, but after a few minutes you soon get used to it.

7" is a normal sized wrist. I rocked an SA and 47mm PAMs. All about how you pull it off. There are watches for every occasion.

i guess its pretty average, but my foremarms are very long and thin so makes my wrist look thinner than it is

I have "sissy" small wrists so with short sleeved I wear my modest Bentley GT, but I wear My Navi World with long sleeve(dress shirts, etc) the long sleeves obviously hide my "sissy" wrists better. :lol:

Some good advice from td. There are a lot of B's in that size range. Go try some on at your dealer; you might be surprised.

I went to my AD today and tried on a number of models. It struck me that I was somewhat uncomfortable with the underbelly shape of many models. The 16-17mm thickness "felt" thicker due to what seemed like a more rounded base. It tended to bobble on my wrist! I did get to check out a Hercules, and man is that aptly named. More gym time needed on that one regardless of the shape :-)

I think the Cockpit is for me in general, and who knows, I could adapt to a Blackbird... Man, I like the Blackbird!

Update: Checking out the models here on the site, it seems that the older Blackbird is a 39+mm case at 14+mm thickness. I'll wager that a new-old-stock or slightly used Blackbird might work too. Or one with a UTC, dare I dream!

Assuming that youre talking about the current model thats been around for a few years, the Blackbird is 43.5mm and is the exact same case as the Chronomat. If you want very small (as far as Breitlings go), you can check out the Chrono Cockpit or the Navitimer Montbrillant (the regular one, not the Datora or the Legende) which I think are both 38mm.

I was looking at the sites reference section, and it claims that the "Blackbird (Original)" and early chronomats were +40mm by 14mm... Does that sound right? That could work. There seem to be several "old versus new" threads regarding Breitling Blackbirds etc... sorry to bring that up again.

The original (caliber 13) Blackbird was around 40mm - same size as the equivalent era Chronomat.

Don't suppose anyone out there has a size comparison of new versus old Blackbirds? An on-the-wrist shot would be insanely great! I've got a good line on the 40mm Blackbird but hoping to see the size (relative, of course). Just an on-the-wrist shot of the 40mm Blackbird would be more than sufficient.

I know exactly what you mean. My Steelfish has quite a deep rounded case back which spaces the case off the wrist. The Avenger Skyland, now Avenger has a deeper case and not so rounded case back therefore sitting flatter on the wrist.

Take a look at the 360 degree views on Breitlings website and you'll see what I mean. Good comparison for any watch you're looking at :wink:

Wow, you're right! Picture attached... I'm gonna go try one on.

Well, I took the plunge and found a good condition 40mm Blackbird. Having never seen one (or even pictures of one on a smaller wrist) I'm both excited and worried. Hope it's a keeper!
