Hi folks a newbie to this forum (which I must say is very helpful thanks Alex and AM). Need a bit of advice re collectability, are the discontinued B-2 and Hercules termed as such, How durable and wearable are they? Thanks in advance, John

Neither are specifically collectable per se. Obviously if you found someone who really wanted one then yes you may get a good price for them as the buyer couldn't just buy one from an AD anymore. But neither were limited edition so they are no more collectable than any other non-LE Breitling. (Still great watches though!)

In terms of durability, then they are both fine. Both are water resistent (not to scuba dive with, but perfectly good to swim in), and they both have a sturdy build quality. Both are fine daily wearers.

I loved my B-2 but sold it because it failed to pass the first test of a useful timepiece - I could not tell the time in most lighting conditions. I had a silver dial and while it was stunning in appearance, I just could not easily tell the time. Very cool chronograph feature, however , and a great time keeper . If i were to get another, I would get a slate dial.

b-2 was my first breitling. it was fine as a daily wearer as it's brushed, doesn't attract scratches like polished. might also check out the skyracer if u like the b-2 look.

My B-2 is my everyday to work watch.
The blue dial makes it quite readable.

Hiya

It seems to me that the term collectablility is a thing which comes and goes.

Seems there is a rash of people wanting B2's currently, but go back about a year, there seemed to be a rush on the Herc's

Neither were limited editions, so there must be plenty out there to be found!

I just bought a B2 becuase my Chrono Avenger was a little too rugged for certain days when I was looking for something a little less chunky.

My next purchase will probably be a Bently or a Navitimer with leather strap.
