Hi all, i have a question; why is a Breitling so expensive? Is it because of the handwork or are the several parts so expensive? Regards Raymond147. |

As with most things perceived value plays a big role. Marketing is a one of the reasons things cost what they do. |

When you hold a Breitling in your hands and put it on your wrist, you will automatically realize the build quality, and beauty of the watch. They are expensive, but they are definitely well worth it. ![]() |

I agree that marketing is always a large expense for any company but I never see any Breitling advertisements. |

to be honest i think that breitling is one of the more reasonably priced brands, in terms of swiss made watches (the higher end that is). definately the more bang for the buck. |

To me, it comes down to the old adage "you get what you pay for". Precision engineering, an extensive service/dealer network, world class design, and the branding of a timepiece all contribute to the cost. Typically, the less you spend, the more of these things you will sacrifice. There are always exceptions to the rule but Breitling is among the best in all of the categories that warrant a "high" price tag. |

when you look at it and feel how heavy it is you know its something special... but what could be the most expensive of the watch? the inside work, dial or something else? the steel bracelet is a thing that i cannot believe why its so expensive... |

You wouldn't believe the precision that is required to get something like a "simple" bracelet to wear well, look good, and be durable. Starts with the quality control of the alloy used and goes all the way to finishing touches (locktite on the screws in each link, polishing). If you've ever seen a chinese after-market bracelet you'll see what happens when there is little to now attention to detail. They are usually made from a mystery-metal and fall apart in a matter of months. It shows you what happens when a manufacturer thinks of their product as "simple". The end result is usually garbage. |

Lets be honest, how many things in our every day lives that are overpriced? Thats just the way it is. Mercedes Benz dont cost over 100K to build, but they get every penny for them. ![]() |

I would assume the most expensive thing of the watch is the word "Breitling". We can agree all day that we like the craftmanship, the details, the finish, the service and so on - but at the end of the day you pay a premium for the brand name. As with any luxury product. |

I have to agree. Most watches over $1000 are going to be excellent in terms of fit & finish. Over $2000 the design is going to be classy & endure the test of time(no pun intended). Above that will be quality control & brand reputation. I've owned about 7 watches in my time & after 2 years or so the watches show their age. Paint chips off, crowns bend, bezels seize up etc. My ling still looks brand new today after 3years & I wear it nearly every day doing everything. Brand name/reputation plays a role in how exclusive a high end product is. Compare a top of the line ford motor car ($100,000+) compared to a entry model BMW($40,000). Side by side I'll guarantee which most people will think is more desirable. Speaking of cars, Breitling always has a 1-2 full page ad in the 'wheels' magazine every month. Mostly for the Blackbird, Chronomat or the B01. cheers |
