I know i've seen posts about this, but search turned up no results. Is it ok to shoot with my watch on? I assume probably not because of recoil maybe knocking the tiny parts loose. but just wanted to know. figured since it is a personal defense type thing that might as well be as realistic... and since if someone did break in or something of the sort, I wouldn't say :guns: " hold on while i take my watch off so i can shoot you" :guns: might as well have it on while practicing.

not that it matters but it is a Colt GMT.

Thanks,

Ross

Consensus from previous threads was that many people did it. I think that it is likely OK because the g forces won't be as high as things like golf where the forces get crazy high.

I would have to say that if you are going to shoot in a personal defense situation the watch doesn't matter to much. In NY at least you can't simply shoot someone because they broke into your home :( I can only shoot if my families or my life is in danger. Pretty much the villain must have a weapon of some kind or try to kill you somehow. I like to keep a spare handgun for that... just joking, but when it comes down to it if its my family or a robber I would shoot through and destroy any of my possessions for them.
Hopefully it never happens.

Didn't have any problems, even with 44 Mag.

that's what i thought was said, but couldn't find any in search and wanted to make sure i wasn't remembering backwards...

pretty much the same laws here... and i would do the same, i was just making a small point that a home invasion won't pause for one to take their watch off to not destroy it while stopping the intruder...

thanks again

Ross

The results are in, shooting didn't seem to cause any problems... would post pics but they seem to be too big... I'll re-size and see if they'll go.

Ross- I'm late to the party but wanted to put in my experience. I shot for a living, and put a minimum of 1000rds a month downrange and none of my Breitlings have ever had a problem. Parts of the year I shoot 1000rds every week in everything from handguns to rifles up to .50BMG and nothing has ever affected any of my mechanical watches.

I shoot weekly 44 mag and 303 being the most recoil for my regular shoots still never had an issue in the 3 plus years I've had a breitling on and the 10 before that my auto catier never had an issue and for 40 years that my dad shot with his 806 on had no issues

I was actually shooting a .357 and a .40 S&W auto the other day and deliberately watched my wrist for a few rounds trying to gauge the force exerted on my Breitling. Very negligible. I definitely have no worries whatsoever about shooting with my watch on going forward.
