I will probably be picking up a new steelish in the next couple of weeks. I have no idea what dial to get. I like the white because it will look good on leather. I like the blue because it is a unique blue. I like the black because it will look good on the diver pro. What say you? Also those that own a steelfish how is the wrist presence?

I prefer the black and cream dials. The cream looks superb on brown calf leather as per the Cronolog, but isn't the clearest dial at a glance. But is staring at your new pride and joy a bad thing

Black pretty much goes with most starps etc. I swap between brown Calf and a Pro2

As for wrist presence, even my mum commented on it

I have the black and silver versions and the biggest difference to me it that the silver one wears a little larger than the black and in my eyes the silver one looks a little more dressy. I have every strap and bracelet combo to switch out with these watches and its nice to go from casual (diver pro, ocean racer) to bracelet (less casual to dressy) to croc on deployment (very dressy). The simple change on the straps makes for a totally different look. I dont think you could go wrong with any of the colors, but if I had to pick just one it would prob be the black dial.

I got the black because I already had a white and a blue faced watch. The black looks like a dark blue under certain lighting conditions. I thought it was fabulous. Great wrist presence on the watch too.

It was too big for me so I did end up selling it, but I miss it. Gorgeous timepiece.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I love my black SOH 46, but that bushed steel makes my mouth water...(so of course i NEED it). I am down to either white or black.

I guess I will put my 2 cents in as well, I have the blue dial, bought it about 2 months ago and I also went back and forth between black, blue and silver a hundred times before I finally settled on the blue. Problem was I couldn’t finally all 3 dials in stock at the same AD, it would have been nice to compare them side by each. That being said, the blue dial will instantly change colour once you step outside of the store into the sunlight.

The colour of the blue dial tends to be more on the blue-grey side in dim or under artificial light, in natural bright light it is more of a brilliant blue colour it also tends to change colour depending on from what angle you view it, I actually quite like it and am glad I chose the blue in the end.

As for wrist presence, IMHO the watch has just the right amount of polished and brushed parts, not to blingy, not too subdued. This is my daily wearer and it can look good with just about anything (suit, tee shirt, etc). I suppose you would have more strap options with the black or silver dial if you wanted to go that way, but I think a brown strap would look just fine with the blue dial if you wanted to go that way, just my 2 cents.

Good luck with the purchase, be sure to put up some pics once you have it in your hands.

You're correct the white dial does look great on leather but the black Diver Pro in contrast with the white dial looks fabulous as well. If you havent tried it yet, go to either the Japanese or Breilting fitting site and compare the different dials with different straps.

Of course! That is what I have been doing all morning while I have been "working"

I have the black dial on a diver pro. I wanted a daily wear watch and I'm more than happy with it. If I didn't wear it every day I'd buy the pro 2 but the diver is really strong and there's not much you can do to damage it! Lol. The first steelfish I brought was a White dial pro 2 but for one reason and another I took it back for refund I'm really glad I did I much prefer the black now. The other thing with the White dial is the look of the dial changes in different lights. Hope this helps! Go black you won't regret it!

I had a black one. Very nice. It looked dark blue a lot of the time. If I were to buy another one it would probably be the cream dial, just to change things up. Im not a big fan of blue dials on general, so that would be out.

I've owned 3 Steelfishes over the years - a white(silver) dial 42mm first gen model, and both a white(silver) and black 2nd gen (i.e. current) model.

The white(silver) is definitely more dressy which makes it quite a versatile watch. Additionally the colour (which Breitling call silver, but I've always found to be a kind of ivory) is pretty unique amongst diver's watches. However the silver is not a classic diver look IMO, and it's not always the most legible as there's a lot going on on the dial, especially with the concentric rings on the dial surface. The black is more of a classic divers watch IMO, and is a great all round watch without being too dressy. All personal preference at the end of the day, but if I was going to buy another, I'd definitely be going for the black.

Presence-wise, well a lot depends on your own interpretation of wrist-presence. Personally I don't think it wears very large, but then I'm comparing that to my Bentleys/SA/Big Pilot, etc. That said, if you're used to something like a Rolex, then it'll probably feel like you're wearing a brick on your arm!

Try before you buy is the key here I think. Good luck!
