Many of you are aware I have a 1945 Breitling up for trade on this and a few other sites. (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15483). One watch I would like to get is the Breitling Shark auto with white dial. Neil Wood, the proprietor of the chronomaster website has agreed to trade with me for the Shark he has for sale: http://www.chronomaster.co.uk/breitling.htm
I was informed that Neil has a good rep so I trust the transaction would work out.
My question for this forum is - am I making a mistake with this trade? I paid $2700 which is clearly too much for the Premier (about a year ago). The Shark sells for only $1275. Even if you say I overpaid for the Premier by $1000, it's still more valuable then the Shark, but right now I like and want a Shark, and don't wear nor ever plan to wear the 33mm Premier.
As for trade offers I have gotten in the last 3 weeks via this and other forums where the Premier is listed, they have been less then paultry (none from this site). So I don't have high hopes of someone trading this Premier with me for say a Cossie or a Navi or a Omega PO or SM - I just don't see the Premier generating the interest...
I would love to hear what everyone here thinks...

I would say that you should go with your feelings. You want that Shark...that can many times be more of value to you than just money. If you want it, trade. The most important thing is that you are satisfied :)

I can't help you on the decision as only you can decide, BUT I can confirm that Neil is a good guy. I bought my old Sinn UX from him and he's a top guy to deal with.

BTW that white dial Shark is a beauty. If it was bigger than 42mm I'm consider it myself!

For the condition of your watch I think it's a fair dealer trade.

Private trade would give you more value, but it's not unreasonable.

Look up the definition of a sunk cost (accounting term). You paid what you paid. It's value seems to be established at less than what you paid. You have an asset now that you do not really want and are likely not going to get more out of it than this shark or cash, but probably less than the value of the shark on the open market. If the watch is sitting in a drawer, not being used, than get rid of it and get something of use.

Just my opinion.

I would never swap that Premier for a Shark but if you feel like you want to and you can afford the hit you're taking why not ?

Yea go for it~! if you're not happy with the Premier, then I would say just bite the bullet and go with one that you're going to be happier with...

It's not a question of being able to afford "the hit". As kuslamb said, it's a sunk cost (like my blackberry that my 1 year old threw into the harbor). So the money is already gone. I don't wear the Premier (33mm is too small for me) so it's not doing me any good. I'd like to trade for something of equal value, but Gert and breitlingmuseum, no one is offering me anything like that - not on this forum not on other forums. breitlingmuseum - you have an extensive collection - make an offer. :P
