I recently purchased this watch from a seller on ebay. From what I have researched, this watch comes with a screw down crown. I do not have a screw down crown on this watch. The crown turns freely without screwing down. I can pull the crown out and push it in without a screwing mechanism. When I look at the instruction manual, it tells me to trun the crown 40 rotations to start the watch (when it is new). If the crown was a screw down, I would not be able to do this either. I am confused. I am not an expert and may not understand the term screw down. I also want to make sure that I did not receive a replica. All of the numbers on the documentation match the watch. Please help!!

Hi, A very nice piece. The Hercules has a non-screw locked crown as stated in the chronolog's. Yours is the first model with the red pointer. this is the later type viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14421&start=15 Steve

Thank you Sir. Obviously I overlooked the "non-screw" piece. I feel much better now. Thank you for your help and posting the pic.

And just FYI,a screw-down crown must be unscrewed and then you can wind it just like the manual says.

The Hercules has both a screw down crown and a non screw down crown version. I have two, one with and one without. It depended on the year I believe.
