I am thinking about a few changes in my watch collection this coming year:

Sell - Navitimer, Epos dive chrono, Omega Seamaster
Buy - Blackbird or maybe EM

What are you thinking about changing?

I'm far from being a collector so there's not a whole lot of pressure. :D

I'll definitely be hanging on to, and enjoying, my BB & SA. I have a new Tissot that's never been worn so I should be able to get back what I paid, and believe I will let that one go. As for my want list, I don't plan to be greedy this year so would settle for a Ball Trieste, G-Shock or something similar that can take come abuse, a Black croc strap of some sort for my BB, a good one or two watch winder, and the basics for tools. Yes no ling in the plans for 2010, that's not to say I wouldn't want one, but a Bentley probably won't be in the budget. If I can complete my simple list I will be pretty happy with that and maybe look at that Bentley in 2011.

Well after a bit of re-aligning my collection in the past 12 months, I'm quite happy with what I have. However, I also have a long list of 'requirements' too, mostly Breitling, a couple that are not!

I never sell a watch that I haven't specifically bought to sell, so there won't be any departures - but probably a few additions.

My plan has been to buy a new watch for significant events in my life. I don't plan to ever sell any watch that I own. I have an Ebel from my 30th birthday, a Tissot from a family vacation in the carribean and a Breitling Navitimer and Tag Carrera from my 40th birthday. Before the end of the first quarter of 2010, I plan to buy a black SOH 46 on mesh with money I inherited from my mother. That will probably be it for 2010 for me. Although I do have a wish list...

Very interesting. I buy wristwatches that I enjoy and find interesting to wear everyday. But I never intend to keep them for more that a few years. Watches that I collect as investments (although mostly bad investments) are collectible railroad grade pocket watches such as the Hamilton 950 grade. Now , those are interesting watches.
On the other hand, I just pulled an old Bulova wristwatch out of the safe that I purchased new in 1972 for about $65.00 and wore regularly for about 5 years. Never cleaned, but, still keeps good time. I think I will have it cleaned this year and wear it again after over 30 years storage. It is a Caravelle automatic dive watch. Not worth anything, but it does have some sentimental value to me since this watch was bought before the quartz watches came to market cheap. Maybe I will add that to my New Years list.

Thinking about adding a super avenger, white dial with batons on a brown leather strap with clasp, and coincidentally the AD I dropped by yesterday had exactly that in stock. Now comes the hard part, need to get permission from the “boss”……….

I need to stop picking up straps for my 112. I also need to stop contemplating selling the 112 and buying a Rolex.

Now that sounds both lovely and unusual. I'd love to see some pics when you get it!

For this coming year I think as far as watches go I will only be adding a croc strap for my 6.75. I have already bought three watches this year in the past six months. That's enough unless something really special catches my eye. More than any material possession I just want my family to be happy and healthy. Money and material things don't mean anything compared to that in my book. Anyway I wish everyone a happy and a healthy new years. Be safe and may you all hopefully smile a little more than last year. God's bless.

No problem, wife is back from Tokyo tomorrow, I'll let you know how I make out, figure I'd ask well she was still jet-lagged and see if I could sneak it by undetected..

I sold a couple of mine in '09, mainly to raise cash for DSLR's and lenses and intended to wait until early next year to buy an Emergency.

But then on Sunday I spotted an Avenger Seawolf Ti on Pro2 in the sale at a very good discount and had to have it :D Looks like the Emergency purchase will be delayed again :|

After I purchase my Breitling Chronomat BO1 in the next week, I think I will make one more purchase before the end of the year and that will be the Zenith El Primero Port Royal Pen. I dont think the partner will be happy though, shes not overly impressed with my wanting to buy the Breitling anyway who knows, if I can come out of 2010 with these 2 watches Ill be over the moon.
